How Many Mitts/MF's do You Use?

I was wondering since most of you on here are as obsessive/compulsive as I am, how many different wash mitts do you use when washing your car? Ideally, I would have one for the upper panels (roof, boot, hood, windows, upper parts of doors), one for the lower parts of doors (usually below a factory designed crease), one for bumpers, one for rockers and fender well lips and one for wheels. Is that going too far and/or a waste of time?

How about microfibers? I have ones for interior, inside glass, outside glass, door frames, black trim, paint, wheels, and a bunch for odd stuff where they'll get pretty ratty and dirty.

What are your thoughts and/or setups for the cleaning things that touch your car. Plus this will help me decide as to whether or not I should be admitted for treatment somewhere. :bye

I'm sure many here think you're fine and I'm sure there are many others that think you are too extreme. It's your time and your paint so if you're happy go ahead.

I have one mit for the wheels and and bottom and one for the paint. and a then a couple of WWs to dry and few for the polishes and LSPs then another for the jambs and others for the interior and also the glass.

So I think you're fine :crazy :lol

I have two paint mitts, two wheel mitts and two wheel brushes. A whole mess of microfibers which I only use once or twice and throw into a bucket till I can wash them. Three buckets, two WW drying towels and two absorbers.

Three sheepskin mitts. One for the top of the car. One for the lower part of the car. One for the wheels and underside. Lastly, I use old cotton towels/rags for the fenderwells and insides of the wheels. I use the 2 bucket method and constantly rinse the mitts with an open ended hose while washing.

I sheet the water off the car with an open ended hose, blot with my 100% suprima cotton towel and use my DF Towels to wipe off the residue and to QD, wax and buff. Separate MF for the glass. Assorted rags for interior, engine cleaning, etc.

I will be investing in more MFs soon, especially WWs for drying. I was hesitant to switch over but now that I have I really like them. :)

I try to keep it simple. I use two mitts that i got from automagic. One for regular washing and one for washing with fallout. I don't use a mit or brush on wheels or tires. i use my pressure washer. I have 4 types of rags. Window rags, interior rags, wax towles, and all purpose rags. thats it

You are not alone and you are in the right place!

I normally use 2 sheepskin mitts when I wash. One for bumpers, the lower portion of doors & windshield and another for the rest of the car.

I have so many microfibers (not to mention PC pads) that I can't remember them all. Basically I have 3 glass towels, about 10 interior towels, a dozen or so "work" or grunge towels, 5 waffle weaves for drying, and at least 20 towels for paintwork/QD/product removal.

You mean you guys dont wash the wheels first and then use the same rag for the rest of the car? What a waste of time and towels! One works just fine!

:LOLOL

I think I'm up to 50+ MF's of WW, super plush, low plush, window etc. I also have 2 sheep skin wash mits and a tire brush, all have their own uses! I use plenty of towels so they stay clean and don't rub any dirt around!

I have one sheepskin washmitt, one micofiber, one glass cleaning towel, one waffleweave drying towel.three terrycloth towels, one wheel cleaning brush, and one tire brush.

I use one mitt and one wheel brush, each in seprate bucket for customers cars. I own about 60 of MF's and 10 wash mitts. I have 3 folded piles for MF's. Paint-Cleaning-Glass. On mah personal King Ranch I use one mitt strictly for it. One the wife's Volvo I use a sheepskin strictly for it also.

I use three mitts for a wash, one for the wheels, one for the upper half of the painat and one for the lower body. I use two buckets, do the wheels first and then empty the buckets and start with fresh water and car shampoo for the paint.

At a recent driving event there was a hose for people to wash their cars and I saw a guy do this exact thing while washing his car. I had to bite my tongue hard to keep from saying something. Let's just say that the paint on his car reflected his poor washing habits and I didn't stick around to see how he dried it. :eek

I do wash my wheels and tires first, but I have a third bucket (one for wash, one for rinse, one for tires/wheels) for that and a nice selection of wheel & tire brushes. :LOLOL

i use 3 mitts when washing my car. 1 mitt for the upper part of the car, 1 mitt for the lower part of the car, and 1 mitt for the wheels. i also use two buckets, and i refill the buckets when im switching from wheels to paint

as for mfs, i have a quite a lot.. i switch mfs constantly. i have some for those dirty jobs, some for windows, some for a polish removal, some for wax removal, some for a quick qd, and some mf apps of course. i would estimate htat i use around 10 mfs per detail... maybe more

Whew! Glad to see I'm not alone. :-p Concerning the MF's, do you use them for the same thing all the time, or do you just grab any towel for any job after you wash them?

I've got two sheepskin mitts I use for the paint and a chenielle (sp) one for the wheels. I also use a couple small sponges for the wheels, they fit perfectly into the small, hard-to-reach places in the wheels. I've got a small medium bristle brush I use to scrub the tires when they're dirty.

As for microfibers, I'm at about 25 right now. Mainly they're the yellow ones from Costco, but I've had good luck with them and they are eaiser than hell to clean!
