How many different uses for ONR?

Huge thanks for this one, NSXTASY. Best windshield fluid ever.

It keeps its effectivity when poured into a winter washer fluid. I drove through the whole winter with it and it played excellent with the strongest (-90°C) 1Z winter windshield wash concentrate.

1 gallon of Dist. Water

4-5oz of ONR

2oz of DG Rain Repel

well, now i can stop buying those 303 tablets.

I guess in the winter you just use this same mix with an antifreeze windshield fluid?

I began using ONR for washes about two years ago. I love the stuff and continue to use it - my first gallon is still 1/2 to 3/4 full! However, I began to notice after about three washes or so that I'd get a film on the windshield that impaired visibility when it rained. It required a fair amout of elbow grease and IPA to remove. I use ONR on the other exterior glass, but not on the windshield anymore.

Just my experiance and yours may be different.

Well, if your winters are like mine, Im not taking any chances with fluid freezing on the windshield. I use RainX fluid in the winter, however, I still add a cap or two of ONR just for kicks.

A few off topic ?'s , sorry

Do I have to use distilled water or can I use my tap softened well water ?

I want to mix up some of a "Poorboys type" s&w , should I follow the mixture as stated for a QD on the bottle . The bucket wash is understood.

I just got my first bottle so excuse my ignorance .

First there are many processes used to do ONR washes - one is a bucket with a couple of oz of ONR/gal of water, wet sponge or mf, followed by dry MF.

I prefer to use ONR at QD+ strength of 8oz/gal from a hand held pump sprayer. I spray the panel, then wipe with a (now) wet grout sponge, followed by a dry MF. I use a rinse bucket with a few gallons of plain water (but the concentration of ONR builds in the water because of the QD strength.

I know some feel distilled water is required, but I get excellent results with my tap (well) water - after all, it's being wiped off right away and not allowed to sit and spot (besides, although not soft, my water isn't all that hard either) - I guess I'd use distilled water if I had really hard water and/or saw the need.

Distilled water + ONR = windshield fluid that reduces chatter and spotting.

Yup.

I mix it with water at ~7:1 for a very effective glass cleaner. Much better, IMO than Invisible Glass. Just make sure to give the glass a final wipedown with a clean MF after you think you are done. If I don't do this, I will sometimes get a hologram-like appearance on the glass.

I'm afraid of inside car windows fogging up, so I haven't tried it there, but outside windows and house windows (both sides) get ONR QD.

Not car use, but I use ONR around the house. Wet a paper towel and use it to wipe dust off stuff. I've found it works well on cleaning matte LCD screens with no streaking.

Wroks great on stainless appliances too. I use MF towels around the house too.

My most important use is washing my trucks. :nana:

I'll go over my goofy Obsessive Compulsive wash routine:

I PW w/ foam cannon to remove all that will come off the paint. This is a really important step because the city is still refusing to pave my street after 5 years :hm

My cars get dirtier in 1 week than a normal car gets in a 3 months

I will then pull into a garage to work, its great to get out of the sun and wind. Also I don't get dust from the road back on the car as fast.

I use ONR at wash strength (3 gallons) in 1 bucket. I use a rinse bucket if I think the car isn't well rinsed, but usually not needed. With grout sponge I go over entire truck at least 2 times. I dry the truck with a MF that was soaked in ONR then rung out. The MF will stay clean as I dry, or I get a new one. They are bright yellow MFs and you can see any *stuff* that gets on them.

After the wash there is no grit in the bottom of the bucket of ONR (unless I messed up). Now I get dedicated (read previously stained) MF. I then clean door jambs, wheel lips, wheels, anything else that gets grimy. Wheels are cleaned last and the MF nor the ONR will not touch the truck again as I will now have dirty ONR.

The point of this is; without ONR my wash process would not work well. It would mean working in the sun(water spots) outside (dirt getting on the car as I wash) and it would take way longer and more products to do it in.

I also use ONR as a clay lube at wash strength. As a QD at QD strength. Window cleaner. Touch ups after a detail. Wipe down after polishing, I like to keep a fresh bucket of ONR and a MF around while polishing. ONR is great stuff

Well guys...after reading the praises of ONR , I am going to order a gallon today! I may be repeating common usage but here is my gameplan for the gallon:

1. Routine washing of a crew cab F250, the wife's Sportage, and the camper a panel at a time to avoid water spots in the Florida sun and conserve water.

2. Quick detail vehicle for multiple coats of Ultima Paint Guard Plus. I just did the annual wash, clay, polish, seal, but desire 3 layers of the UPGP and I don't have a garage large enough to keep the truck out of the elements between coats.

3. QD to keep in the truck for bird bombs, bugs, etc. especially when on a road trip during love bug season

4. QD for doorjambs, doorsills, dash, etc.

5. Windshied resevoir....thanks for the tip...I use the rainx windshield concentrate with plain water now and plan on using some ONR for the Keys trip. Will probably make up a bottle of 'glass cleaner' as mentioned for use on the truck and around the house.

6. QD for kayaks, fishing rods & reels, mountain bikes

Thanks for the ideas and incentive. I think the ONR can help me work smarter instead of harder when it comes to washing a large truck in the Florida Heat and getting it dry without water spotting.

Regards to all

One of the best of all: to wash hands with. I always save the bucket after a wash when doing details in order to get any grime/silicone/protectants/dirt off of my hands without having to use the customers restroom.
