How Long Does It Take You To Clay ?

It takes me about 15-20 minutes to clay, but my car is medium sized and being a convertible means no roof to clay.

I clay as i wash so it takes me about 10-15 minutes to clay an average contaminated f150 or silverado.

I used to clay while I washed but I have since gotten used to using clay lube (because of all the winter QEW'n). I will however start to clay while I wash tough. Either way takes me about 10-15 minutes, if the car is in decent condition. Greg

this one comes closer to what i do.

between 20-45 minutes, depending on vehicle.

It blows my mind on some of the record times for claying, Can you tell us if your doing a Daily Driver or a Garage Queen... Thanks

not saying it can't be done just wondering what the hell I'm doing that takes so long.

Don't feel too bad, Pops!! ;) I just spent two hours in the garage, washing & claying my CR-V (daily driver) & now it's all ready for polishing/sealing steps tomorrow morning.:)
BTW, I tried claying with foam from my foam gun, but I found myself still spritzing some claylube as I went. Then a final rinse & dry & I was done for the night.

Claying after washing & drying is my preffered method
Water and shampoo is not a good lube and it's easier to drop the bar and can make the bar mushy and leave residue in your hands

It is a faster method but not as effective
Up to 70 minutes to do any car for me but I enjoy it

process is
do three panels, then dry with a pakshak ultra soft WW drying towel

I do all my work by hand, including claying. Claying my car ('98 Honda Civic coupe) or my boyfriend's car ('97 Honda Civic hatch) or most cars I detail usually takes me around 30-45 minutes. If the car has been particuarlly ignored in the past, maybe an hour or more.
