How long does it take to detail?

:chuckle: No not bad at all really, I am prepping it for a concours.

I have a few BEFORE shots but because it was already in good shape there isn't much to show. I am hoping that the AFTERs though are something to stare at for a bit :xyxthumbs

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but here is one teaser pic.

Awesome. Did you use the steamer for the wheel wells?

Peace.

No, not at this time, although I had thought about it. I'll be using it on the engine bay area and perhaps just before the concour I'll give it a quick once over with my steamer as he does drive it from time to time, but never in the rain.

I should finish the car this weekend and I hope to have some pictures up soon.

Thank you for the compliment :)

Your welcome, that's the best looking wheel well I have ever seen.

Before I got the Piccolo, I did my last wheel well cleaning, and while TONS of stuff came off, there was some black/brown stuff that refused to come off. So some areas are clean white, and other areas are white w/ some black/brown stuff on it. Pressure washed, used A2Z and a scotchbrite pad, etc., and it's still there. When I rotate the tires next, I will try the steamer and see if it takes it off.

Peace.

That stuff might be factory-applied undercoating/sound-deadening. If you *really* want to take it off you might try a solvent.

What type of steamer was used for the wheel and the brakes? Is it the same as used in steaming clothes?

I use a professional steam vapor cleaner. The concept is much like a clothes steamer but the unit I use puts out 65 psi with a steam temp of about 175 to 180 degrees. Which can leave a real nasty burn on your skin if not careful :furious:

These pro steamers can be found for about $600.00 on up to over $1000.00....so shop wisely :)

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, it could be undercoating, I don't know. 80% came off w/ the PW. I was surprised actually, I thought there would be undercoating, but instead I saw lots white painted metal! So I tried to take to remnants off.

If it is undercoating, what's left is not gonna help, so I'm taking it off. And they don't salt the roads here in the 808, since it NEVER snows. :lol

Next time I rotate, I'll try the Piccolo.

Peace.

Heh heh, lucky you! I'd take it off then too.

Anthony- What really impresses me about that Porsche is the condition of the rotor hat!
