How long do you hardcore detailers take to do a solid pass on a standard size sedan using a rotary?

No big fish tales either please :lmfao

I did my second ever (by rotary) car today, SSR2 plus extras with the SSR2 by rotary and Edge 2000 White took about 1hr 50minutes! This doesn't seem right somehow.
 
It takes me about the same, a rotay is not a fast thing unlike the orbital which can be faster. One thing that do is never try to go fast it never gives youn back the results you are looking for
 
I had a 'detailer' drop in to offer his services and reckons he can buff a sedan in 30minutes!!
 
Every car is different. Buffing is not just a matter of making a 'pass' around the car. Two hours is not overly extreme for a neglected, scratched, and pitted surface. Conversely, if it only took 30 minutes, did the entire car really need to be buffed? Not all do, ya know...

You get free buffer swirls with that one!


To properly polish out a surface, it'll take me anywhere from 1 - 7 hours depending on size and paint condition. Never rush it. Although a rotary cuts up paint quickly, you should make 2-3 passes to insure optimal gloss/no swirls.

This is becoming a "how to buff" seminar, I was really just wanting to know how long other people took to do a decent pass on a car in good nick, minor swirls and scratches etc.
 
Could part of that time frame be due to the fact that you used a Finishing pad (white) with an Intermediate polish?
 
It would no doubt contribute to the time frame but the finish was pretty good. I only received the one Edge 2000 to evaluate and that was the white. My clients only understand the need for and want to pay for one step - so they get it.
