How long can ash sit on a car?

I just detailed/washed my car yesterday and today this morning there is a fire at a valley ridge (in Anaheim/Orange County) and it had drop a lot of ashes on my car. :sign I was too lazy to park in the garage last night :nono Obviously I can't wash it again right now as the sky is orange with ash dropping more and more. Is it safe to let it sit for a week and wash it next weekend?
 
most ash fallout contains acid...and will start to etch paint after it gets damp....I would not wait a week...you may have to do a few washings to keep the paint safe...or after a wash cover the car...
