How Good Is Your Detailing

Poorboy
I also have seen many more first time winners with less than perfect vehicles at Antique and Classic shows where a rare vehicle will upstage a much better detailed vehicle.

YOU ARE SO RIGHT
This happens far too often

I have 50K invested in my engine and I had a judge look at it and ask me if I had done anything to it.

He was not joking I'm sure he was serious.
The supercharger and the Nitrous Oxide system is in plain sight but he didn't have a clue what he was looking at. :wall

All you can do is just make a mental note to not go back to that show again.

Steve I plan on going over the vette before long with PB PP and a LC-Black pad to get the finish as smooth as I can before applying glaze.
You got any tips for using the PP that may be of help

Yes, local show judges tend not to be trained too well as to what they are supposed to be looking for or the shows often don't put cars in the right category either :notme: ... I've also seen some pretty rare cars get overlooked for a very shiny favorite like a Mustang or Camaro :hmmm:

As far as PP goes, use small amounts work it until it basically disappears and the gloss comes out from the paint. or you can wait 2 weeks for something really special :D

I think you are talking about the product that I ask you about via E Mail a few weeks back and Yes I would like to try it.:D

I don't stress too much with my Jeep, and the body has some dents (mainly the hood, they fly open when you dont put the hooks on it :passout: ), and the front of the fenders has been hit with crappy bondo and paint from before it was in my hands. Plus the gelcoat on the hard top is mostly gone, but I plan on painting it soon.

I tell everybody if I want to strive for perfection, I know I can do a damn good job, but for most folks they don't see half of what you did. But I do enjoy making a well maintained vehicle spotles if I know it's going to be kept up

On a daily driver I wouldn't ever spend ten hours polishing the paint to absolute perfection. It is just going to be screwed up the first time you take it out in a rainstorm anyway.

Why not do it right(not necessarily perfect) the 1st time and maintain it properly so that it won't be needed again? I'd hate washing my car and have all the imperfections staring me in the face. It almost makes you not want to keep it up properly.
