How good is the Absorber?

I think the WW drying towels are better.....I an never get the maintenance right with all these chamois and absorber style drying towels....they always dry out......but with good maintenace it'll heard it works great.....not as good as the WW IMO tho...

Absorbers are ok, the constant stopping to wring it out can get annoying. I use WW now, I can dry my car with one of them w/o stopping to wring.

I like the Absorber. It is very durable, doesn't lint and doesn't leave waterspots. It's wax-friendly and it it leaves my glass spot-free. There is a learning curve to use it. There is an optimum level of dampness that it should be kept in so that it stays supple as soon as you reach for it. If allowed to dry, it doesn't work well until you wet it some. I've had mine for 4 years of weekly washings. I'd buy one again.

So basically it works and reacts like a chamois in terms that it stiffens up when dry. I'm assuming you lay it flat and gently pull it towards you when taking water off flat surfaces or is it so absorbant that pulling isn't necessary?

Can you wash it with your other laundry or is it like MF towels and should be washed separately?

in My experience,

WW > Synthetic Chamois (Asorber) > Real Chamois (animal skin or some form)

I find that it is FAR easier to pat dry a vechicle with a WW than with an Asorber. Pat drying is generally less likely to induce swirls or anything like that as far as I know.

I've been using the Absorber for years. Easy to use and throw it in the washer with the rest of the towels (I rinse everything at least twice) and store it in the container. Keeping it clean seems to be essential. If it dries out, just re-wet it and you're ready to go.

I used to be a big Absorber fan until I was introducted to waffle weave towels. I don't have to wring with the WW and the WW doesn't seem to "cling" on the surface like the Absorber.

Waffle weaves for all my cars now. Absorbers takes care of the boat and jetski.

Real Chamois are ok, but they tend to leave very fine scratches if you are not EXTREMELY careful. The Absorber is better, as long as you blot.

In order of usefulness, I would rate them like this:

WW >> Absorber > Chamois.

For the record, I have an Absorber, but rarely use it now, ever since I got some WW MF's.

I dig the Absorber...I switch between it and the Water Bandit. Follow up with a dry MF and good to go!

Of course, the Water Blade is about 100X faster than any Chamios!

I'm a proud member of the Absorber admiration club. I'm on my second. A decade+ of usage. I keep it stored in it's original container. Toss it in the washer when it gets dirty. I will be using one for my drying needs for the foreseeable future. As far as technique, that has changed over the course of the years. Currently, I fold in half twice and lightly pull across the surface. It does work well on windows too. After completing the vehicle, I rinse in clear water, wring to damp dry and return to its container.

I am also a huge fan of MF. I have several WW MF towels and the new Microtex drying towel. They are all also quite competent at drying a vehicle.

Comparing the ease of use between MF towels and the Absorber, I would rate it a toss up.

Comparing durability, I would give an edge to the Absorber.
