How durable is too durable?

I too would love to beta test it for you, but I don't have 1,000 posts :(

I do have 3 different cars that I could use it on to monitor for you, including one that sits outside 24/7. If you lessen the requirements, I would be glad to document the heck out of it :D

Not for me. While I love the looks of a detailed car, I don't enjoy the job itself. Durability is my holy grail for detailing.

If you want some direct comparisons to NXT and Klasse on a single stage red volvo that's constantly determined to turn pink, let me know. That car has been a great test bed for product testing and comparisons.

About a half-dozen samples, eh? Hmmmm . . . aren't there about that many moderators (he asked, selfishly)? :D

Moderators are free to raise their hand... Tag, you're it!

I would like to be a tester after the initial 6 are sent. I have a couple of tester cars I could use this on. Good luck to 1st 6 and let us know how this plays out. :D:D

4* creme perhaps? If it holds its slickness (for a couple of weeks) like a fresh coat of UPP does (for a day) then I'll listen.

I'd try it on the hood of my Z06 to test slickness, gloss, etc. but it wouldn't be the best durability test since I drive it maybe 50 miles a month :tumblewee

Sweet! I know the perfect car to try it out on, too.

Should I give it a try over the top of SBP, or would that skew the results?

I'm supposed to have a '96 or so E320 and eventually, an '87 Carerra. I'm unsure when they will be avaiable for detailing;sometime this summer.

Fine, let's pull out the big guns and hit it with Dawn... Guess what? It didn't come off.

I have long believed that it would not be possible to create a polymer you can apply by hand that has "paint strength" durability. Was I wrong?

OMG! I wiped it down with the water/alcohol spray and it's still there!!!

After three heavy applications of alcohol/water spray it finally gives up. This stuff is amazing.

So, how durable is too durable? Is it possible to have a sealant that's too durable?

My guess is that it will hang in there. The chemist said he left some in a mixing beaker over night and it took pure lacquer thinner and steelwool to remove it.

This is of course very interesting. But one potential concern that comes to mind is what is the implication of a super durable sealant like this on the paint shop industry? What happens if you have a car you've used this on which needs a fender or hood repainted? Is the shop going to have recurring problems with the prep & paint (such as the fish-eye problem)?

(eg. I've heard rumors in the past about Meguiar's #20 Polymer Sealant causing problems for some paint shops, but never really looked too deep into it to find out the truth.)

I understand the concern. I asked the chemist the same question. When I do more testing tomorrow I will hit a test panel with Prepsol to see if it removes it.

David,

I'd sure be interested in testing it out! That is, if it's still available:)

I'd test it out on my mom's Pilot, outside 24/7 and automatic car washes!

DONE!

Okay, the six initial testers will be:

blkZ28Conv

TortoiseAWD

BlackSunshine

DETAILKING

Pats300zx

drewski59

I will PM/email you as soon as I have the samples in the warehouse and give you an order code.

Along with the sample, I will send you applicators and towels for buffing off.

Thank you!

Oh man, juuuuuust made the cut! LOL

I now have a conflict of interest and need to close this thread.

This evening was asked by the manufacturer to do the product marketing (branding, packaging, etc.) for this product. I accepted. This will be a 60-90 day project. During this time I will be asking for testers to provide feedback to the manufacturer.

Over the next few weeks I will run a contest to guess the name. At this point, your guess is as good as mine.

As this topic is now "commercial", it does not belong in the open forum area, so I am moving the discussion to the Autopia Car Care sponsor forum.

Thanks,

db
