How does Oxydation look like?

Like that. :D

Rubbing compound for sure. You aren't going to get oxidation off by hand easily either. It can be done but it is a real beast. It takes some good shoulders that's for sure. I used Klasse AIO on that red car. It still took a couple hours to do the whole car though. I used a PC as well.

So will claybar remove Oxydation?

I've heard it might, if it's heavy enough, but it's not usually considered as a method. Oxidation usually looks like a thin, chalky, white film or coat over the paint and gets thicker and whiter as it gets worse.

Welcome to Autopia S13Nissan240SX! (Wow, that's a mouthful!) :welcome

Nope. Like Brian said, it might remove a little, but it won't do the job. You need a good product and a machine to get rid of oxidation. Clay isn't really designed to do that. I suppose you could get the super strong stuff that takes your paint with it, but it would be easier to just polish it out.

just use rubbing compound. yeah its harsh, but if its oxidized like that escort, get a product that will truly remove it, unless you go by using the least abrasive polish rule to be safe.

Any of the paint cleaners or mild abrasives will do:

Mother's Pre-Wax cleaner

3M SMR

Meguiar's #9

etc.

The more aggressive polishes like DACP will do it quickly in one pass, but may be more aggressive than you need.

Oh yeah, forget about not using a machine. You won't be able to use your arms for a week, if a car is really oxidized, like in those pics. With a PC, you can do a whole car in well under an hour.

Welcome to the forum.

Do you have any after pictures of the 240sx?

Eric

I'm taking the easy way out have having the car repainted. I've had some success getting that oxidation to disappear for a while but it doesn't last nearly as long as I would like. Plus I'm getting some body work done at the same time. If you're interested, I should have new photos of the job in a week or two.

Best wishes,

Matt
