The car was parked in very hot weather with the windows closed. It got so hot inside the car that a can of Pepsi exploded and left stains on the headliner and dash.

What can I use to remove the stains?

Yikes I did the same thing with Coke about 10 years ago on an almost new car. It was sitting in the front seat while I was golfing and 5 hours later: kaboom. All over the seats, headliner, dash and vents. I scrubbed the crap out of my seats with carpet shampoo but the headliner was a ***** to get out but you still could see a faint stain. The vents were the worst as dust would stick to them and the way they were designed you really couldn't get it all out.

Any dash cleaner would work. For the headliner there's this stuff called spot shot carpet cleaner that takes out cola. Try it on a small area so it doesn't change color. You should be able to get it at Walmart.

I used a window cleaner (auto store house brand in a spray bottle) on the headliner of my mom's car when she had a can of Diet Pepsi explode in her car a couple years ago. Lightly sprayed so I didn't ruin the adhesive. I think I lightly scrubbed it with a terry cloth towel. Did the trick.

I've never had a problem removing soda stains from anything with Prestone Foaming Carpet Cleaner. Prestone kicks butt. Another product that I use for stain removal (usually on headliners) is called Advantage. It dilutes down to anything from glass cleaner to engine degreaser. It is really amazing stuff.
