How do you dry an store your pads?

There's tons on actually cleaning the pads but not to much on actually keeping them safe. I looked at building something like swissvaxes pad container but then the thought of mildew or mold came to mind. Staking pads probably isn't the best Idea and cramming them in a box distorts them. One member used velcro to get them on the wall. This was by far one of the best detailing idea's ever used, big space saver too + no mold an they dry perfect every time.

Great idea but if it's in a garage that's use all the time then all the fall out from outside and the car will fall on them. I would think maybe some compressed air would help with that and then take them off and put them in plastic pads or a plastic storage bin. But still one heck of a idea.:bigups
 
I am washing my pads with a GritGaurd Pad washer and an air compressor for my MF pads. I then put them face down on some grit guards or a metal wire shelf unit. I alow them to dry for a few days or whatever is needed. Oce then are fully dry I put them in totes with lids on them. They are stacked by type and size but NOT cramed in, so they can maintain their shape. So far it works great for me.
 
I spin mine dry on a rotary and then allow to air dry (face down) on a grated shelf. That is a great idea with the Velcro strips

Thought of that too :)

See the Ferrari logo above all wound up? That's a weighted polyester flag, it drops over all the pads, plus keeps the bay lookin classy. Keeps them safe an lets the breathe. I also spin them on the rotary as well but I still feel as though it doesn't get everything, it does work very good though.

Great idea and makes the shop wall look great too. I might give it a try in my shop too. Thanks for sharing.
 
Nice idea, but do you know how much space 500+ pads would take up on a wall? I think I would need to cover my living room and bedrooms walls too! Mine go in rubbermaid bins. They are always cleaned right before I use them.
 
I store mine in a large carboard box. once the pads are dry they go into a large ziploc bag (1 gallon I think...). one bag can hold up to 3 pads. Makes it easier to organize them. I just make very sure they are fully dry before locking them in the bag so they do not mold.

I like this. It has me thinking. I came across a cafeteria tray rack the other day with a door. I'm thinking put pull out grating where the trays would slide and adding a filtered push - pull fan system.(have a few computer towers lying around)

It was about 6 feet tall by 3 foot wide by 3 foot deep. If you used every other slot you still have room for at least 20 racks of pads It was also on wheels. It would make the perfect clean storage and drying rack for pads.

Oh boy and now I have to go see if it still there. That's what I need ...another project.:)

+1 also you would literally be sound proofing the wall. Some pads especially ccs style mimic the design of cone shaped sound deadening. :)

I only put up what I'm going to use immediately. Everything else is stored away in a bin. I use my grit guard pad washer a lot as well.
