How do you advertise a Sealant option?

How much do you charge for a sealant. What do you use? #20?

I do a polish, glaze, wax for my clients. (When I say clients, I mean neighbors, their friends, friends of my family; word of mouth etc... - not professional) I only do full details so they don't choose a cheap package like wash and cleaner wax.

If I do a sealant like #20, I would delete the glaze part I assume; maybe even the polish part if paint is nice shape. But how much more should I charge?

I've done a real nice descriptive flier this year and I would like to include this option if it makes sense

Thanks for helping me out :xyxthumbs

I've been using Final Polish for a few months now. It has a very light polish, so I can skip using a glaze in most cases, which means one less step. I haven't started charging regulars more because I am saving time by using it, and most of my customers still get their cars waxed every 2-3 months, so a sealant really doesn't benefit them the way it would someone who gets their car cleaned less often. On new customers, however, I am giving them the option of a regular glaze and S100 or a sealant topped with S100 for $15-25 more, depending on the size of the vehicle, and letting them know that their car will be protected for a longer period of time.

Scott do you use 3M SMR or Megs SMR then use vanilla moose over that? Or will the vanilla moose take away from what you just accomplished with the fillers in the SMR?

Thanks

Paint Sealant - The same option that dealers charge over $xxx for can be added to any full detail package for only $xxx. Our sealant protects the surface of your car by bla bla bla bla bla....... It is highly recommended and used by auto manufacturers such as bla bla bla ........................

I personally think that Meguiars #20 and products like it are great for the pro detailer. Some of the products out there have way too many steps and take too long to apply and remove for it to be practical.

I use Vanilla Moose right over SFP with no problems. I either top with S100 or with Final Polish (and S100 for an extra charge).

This Porsche, I used SFP, Vanilla Moose and S100:

This one is Vanilla Moose, Final Polish and S100:

This one took DACP to remove the swirls, then used SFP, Vanilla Moose and S100 (and it was 38 that day!):

Even though both Final Polish and Vanilla Moose have very light abrasive cleaners (somewhere between #9 and #7 it seems), neither seems to affect the swirl remover of Meguiars Body Shop products, and FP and VM seem very compatible with each other as well.

I charge $20 for a sealant and $15 for a wax. I usually recommend both and schedule an appointment a few days or a week later for the second coat. I tell them that I will give them a complimentary wash on the next layer of sealant or wax topper. That has gone very well for me. I can usually upsell a vacuum job or whatever while I'm there just to make it worth my time a little more. Still, whatever keeps em comin. :D

I use a sealant (detailer's pride paint sealant) because it is economical and it provides my customers with long lasting protection and it is very easy to use. Unlike Scott's customers, mine only call me every 6 months so putting S100 every 6 months doesn't suffice.

That is why I carry a sealant. I also have twice/once a year customers.
