How do I remove tar

My son drove through wet tar last night with his white Marquis.
The stuff they spray before paving. Some idiot flagman told him to drive on the wrong side he said.

The sides of the car have tar on it like when after driving throuh a mud puddle.
Also the wells are caked with it.

I have PB Bug Squash but think I`m going to need something much stronger.

I have used WD40 with great results but only for specs of tar.

Anything that can make this easy?

I`ll get some pics tonight. I guess this isn`t a task to do on my driveway either.

Professional Polish and patience :) = safe removal

Multiple applications of Tar-x? Trying to think of something else if the Tarminator doesn`t cut it.

I haven`t had good luck with Bug Squash on tar... Works FANTASTIC on bugs and other grime though.

For heavy duty spots that you want to use a cheap remover, stoners tarminator is awesome. That said, keep it away from unprotected trim. If you need to remove it off trim then use car-pro`s Tar X. I use both regularly.

Yeah I agree with others - given how much is there start with Tarminator and see how that goes. It`s cheap and easy to find locally. Good luck, Shawn! Let us know how it goes.

As stated above, diesel fuel is cheap, as is gasoline on a rag. Unfortunately, most municipalities have laws against throwing gasoline/oil-soaked raqs in garbage for "disposal`.
I would try 3M`s Adhesive Remover first OR Goof-Off Professional (not to be confused with Goo Gone) second on a disposable microfiber or cotton towel/rag.

You may want to clean (wash), compound/polish, and LSP (Wax/sealant/coat) the area affected. Laugh as you will, a Dawn Dish Soap washing after using one of the solvents mentioned above does a pretty thorough and safe cleaning of affected areas. Optimum`s Power Clean mixed with car wash soap is also a good (better, in my opinion) choice if you are of "the car-care chemicals only" crowd to be used on your vehicles.

Stoner Tarminator can be bought OTC.

+2

love Bug Squash but even straight up I have had a hard time with it compared to Tarminator or even Turtle Wax Brand Tar/Glue remover (don`t knock it- it works and is OTC everywhere)

for me BS is a bug pre soaker, that`s it.. its got some magic bug dissolving liquid in it :)

Thanks everyone
I picked up a can of Tarminator to start.
I was thinking of trying TurtleWax too.

Steve, how will pro polish be used? I`ve got that too.

polish with a cotton cloth to pick up the tar .. the solvents will melt the tar and only shine the paint while removing any burnt marks if the tar was still really hot

I wanted better shots but heres a few teasers. My kid sent them.
I`m sure its all on the lower panels too.
Nice and hot When applied.
