How do I get rid of these scratches/swirls?

Hi guys,:wavey



I just bought a Z28 and applied 4 coats of Zaino Z5 (as per directions) hoping to get a great shine and swirl free paint :rolleyes: . The car looks great, except in direct sunlight where you can see a bunch of scratches,and what I presume to be, swirls that Z5 didn't fill. How would I go about getting rid of them?

Firstly.....:welcome





IMO, I would try Meg's Swirl Free Remover and apply it either by hand with a clean terry towel, or use a PC. It works well for me, and I use it by hand.
 
i dont think thatll work either i am having the same problem with my TA im getting it looked at tomorrow, if you try hitting with a pc and some dacp you might be able to remove "some" of them but not all of them, ive tried removing mine with a rotory and nothing. it may be my method or style but nothings working.... im thinking if the rotory doesnt take them out it may take some wetsanding along with 7 or 8 step process

btw where are you located?
 
6`] I think it definately may be your technique. I dont see anything there a PC with a cutting pad and some DACP couldn't handle...much less a rotary...

I agree, I've taken out much worst with PC and med. cut pad

the DACP and #9 were applied using a PC and yellow Lake Country pad.

Zaino only covers VERY light swirls and scratches. You cannot expect anything to fill the swirls on YOUR car without some better paint prep. This is not a Zaino fault. :nono



You probably need a buffer and a good swirl and scratch remover. Once YOU have done the proper prep work, then you apply the Zaino or whatever you like.



I am not trying to come off rudely, but I don't like product bashing when you don't really know what that product is supposed to be used for.

I wasn't trying to bash Zaino. I think thier products are great:bow I guess I made it seem as it was Zaino's fualt. I was told to try Zaino 1st and I was just hoping they would fill them in w/o using something abbrassive.
 
sorry to hijack your thread, blk yukon what speed did you set your pc at ive used all ssr products and dacp with all megs pads on various speeds and nothing......guess ill keep trying
 
jeez...that's exactly how my car looks....webs all over the car and then looking at the after pictures....you guys are too good...for now i'll just have to live with the webs....
 
Most people will try to tell you to use Zaino first. I've heard it a million times, and I believed it to for a long time.



Now, I have learned better. If you use it first, you are wasting some good product and selling your car's potential VERY short.



Hit it with some really good prep work, apply your Zaino, then brag to all those people who told you to start with the Zaino :cool:

You've got to really work it in well, not use too much product, and use high speeds on the buffer, at least thats how I go about it. I usually run the PC at 5 or 6 using 3 dime sized drops of DACP on the pad, polish out at 6 in differing directions until the product is almost gone. If you use too much the pad will load up and dramaticallly reduce the effectiveness. I've also found that I always need to swap out the cutting pad halfway through or I've got diminished results at the end because of the pad being loaded up. I've never used the Poorboys swirl removers or Menzerna's polishes but I find when using DACP you don't really see the end result till after you've stepped down the product to something like PI-III-MG or #9.
 
even then i notice that theres good amount of prodct in the pad when that happens the product on the vehicle is very difficult to take off
 
I'm amazed nobody hopped on this. Excellent work! This is what I am hoping to do with the beater when the DACP gets off the backorder list. I may play with the Menzerna twins in the meantime. Who knows, Mike, I might find I don't need the DACP after all ;) ;)
