How do I build a website?

Can someone be so helpfull as to tell me how I can make a website. I'd really like one made in time for spring but I have know idea how to build one. I'm too cheap to pay anyone but I'll gladly accept free advice! I'd like to build one to post prices, services, pics(before & after) and so on. How much would I need to post pics and all fore mentioned? Also, who is the best as far as web hosting. I know DC is going to offer this soon but like I said I'm cheap and a penny saved is a penny earned!

I tought about building my own site...for about 10 minutes. After that, I realized I did not have the creativity or knowledge to make a good looking one. I was given the name of a nice web designer who did my whole site for not much more than the cost of the software I would have needed to buy.

? Do you have Microsoft word?
If so you can use that ... it allowes you to save it as an HTML file and it makes all of the changes to HTML for you ... its pretty easy

I built ocdetails.com with very little knowledge of anything. I know how to play around with pictures in Photoshop, but I'm not web designer. Some programs make it too easy to put together a business site or even a simple family website. I spent very little effort on www.ourlittlefamily.us, and I am still pleased with it and like that I can just update it and family or friends can keep up with us. I got my webhosting at 1and1.com. I can't really recommend them if you are looking for your website to be in all the search engines and drive major traffic to you, but I can suggest them for providing easy website development software and support for idiots like me. :)

Thank's all for your replies so far. I just want a site that I can update with pics easily and premote my business around town. A place to refer people to so they can see what they want to know at anytime.

Yes, I do have Word here at work and I have access to a computer here 24/7. I really need a new computer at home but with work(my night job) footing the bill for super high speed service, it's worth the trip in to work. Saves me a little cash. Like I said, I'm cheap!

vdubbya,

If you get the Firefox browser, i think you can get a free Web Page Builder program. Either that, or see if you can get Microsoft Front Page. You shouldn't need to learn HTML coding, all you need to know is how to work a Word-type document, adding pictures and text....Good luck.
