The most effective way to safely remove fine scratches and swirls...Now by hand OR with a dual action polisher! Our new and improved ScratchX® uses diminishing abrasive™ technology to safely and effectively remove fine scratches, swirls, and oxidation. As you work ScratchX into the surface of your vehicle, the abrasives diminish and your paint surface is polished to reveal brilliant color and clarity. Clear coat safe, ScratchX will not create new scratches and will not simply "cover" fine scratches as most conventional products do.

definitely, invest in a pc! it will practically last forever and the results you achieve will out perform anything you do by hand, and you won't have sore arms and hands the next day :D . do a search, there are a few threads on here on the pc's being discontinued at lowe's for outrageous prices!

I suggest you spend some time searching and reading the countless number of threads concerning this very topic. The fact is that removing swirls by hand is pretty much an exercise in futility. You will never get anywhere near the results obtainable either by PC or rotary. So, imo pick yourself up a PC and various polishing and cutting pads, various polishes (once again search) and practice. Start with minimally abrasive pads and polishes until you get the feel for it and go from there.

maybe some meguires #80 speed glaze and a LOT of elbow grease? Thats what was recomended to me when in your same situation anyways.

I don't think you can REMOVE swirls on a whole car by hand in two days

try this search for info on scratch x, or

have it detailed by someone that can remove the swirls, or

use a glaze to hide the swirles

well i have access to a porter cable. he said i have to get my own pads though. so what pads would i get and what type of applicants.

What size backing plate does he have on the pc? Most people go with the 6.5 pads. I use the Lake Country 6.5 pads.

You will need at least a white polishing pad and probably an orange light cutting pad.

If doing it by hand you might want to read this article:

If you need pads for a PC you don't have much time to find any locally, but you might want to call around and see if you can find some Meguairs 8006 polish pads. You'll need a 5" backing plate to use those pads.

I'd say do the best you can by hand with some ScratchX (can be found locally) and then after you learn a bit more you can try the PC after you get the products you'll need:

can someone forward me to a link of what to layer on the car when detailing. as in with type of product first and then which on after that and so on.
