How can i protect new paint from birds/removing water spots

The first question has to do with my newly painted trunk lid that was keyed on my new accord. It was painted but they didn't get the scratch fully out and the paint shrunk into the mark and it showed after a week. So they re-painted it today. But during the 1st paint job i found that a bird dropping ate into the new paint. Is there a way to guard against this? I have thought of putting something over it whyen parked in places where it's vulernable. But plasitc may melt into it according to the shop, and i'm afraid clot or similar will leave a pattern in it. It's been hot here lately by the way, which is why thats a concern. So since i can't wax for 6 weeks, is there anything i can use that won't hurt the paint that will protect it? I can't clean it off every hour at work, and thats where it gets nailed often. And i have no other place to park. Any suggestions?

Now the water spots. This is a concern for the entire car, not just the newly painted trunk. Whats the easiest way to remove water spots? wax will do it, but it takes a ton of rubbing which causes fine scratching. Is there a better way?
(yes, i know not to wash in the sun, but i often have no choice)

You can use a glaze, such as Mothers Sealer and Glaze on the car for a little protection. You might get up to a week's worth (It's not intended to be the last step for protection, but can help on fresh paint.). You could Glaze your car every 4-5 days just in case, untill the paint has cured.
As to the droppings, buy some Bird Sh*t Remover from Poorboys World. Works well. In fact, you may want to get a case, should a flock repeatedly attack your car.
As to the water spots, use a good qd and mf after a rain/sprinkler attack etc. and you'll not have to worry so much about the spots. I'm not sure how a qd with wax or "non-wax" protection boosters may affect new paint, so if you wanted to err on the side of caution, get some S+W. It cleans without adding protection. If you want something locally, Meguiar's Final Inspection (#34) is a body shop safe, no added protection qd used to remove dust etc. (I'm guessing that this would be available locally to you, as I don't know where "local" is for you-no location listed).
Hope this helps.

So you're saying that glaze is safe on new paint? Just wanna make sure because i know wax isn't. is it anything like TR3 resin glaze?
As for the QD for water spots, i tried it and it works if you rub like hell, but thats what i wanna avoid because it's caused fine scratching when i tried it.

I didn't say all "glazes" are safe, as some companies label products differently than others. Some list the wax as a polish, some as a glaze, some as a "Space Age break through in automotive finish technology." I'm fairly sure TR-3 is not good for new paint, as it's more of an all in one product, that's supposed to last a fair amount of time. I do "know" (as far as replies from Mothers reps) that Mothers Sealer and Glaze is safe for new paint. To be sure, you could try contacting the manufacturer (although when I tried to find a web site for TR-3 I didn't have much luck, even looking for Blue Magic, Inc. of Cleveland).

With the qd, try letting the qd sit a little (in the shade, so it doesn't dry out) before wiping. This will give it a bit more time to work. What qd are you using? Maybe you're using one that's more of a "glossifier" than a cleaner? :dunno

I just noticed that Meguiar's says that their #80 Speed Glaze (swirl remover and breathable paint protectant) is Paintable and useable on fresh paint to protect over the curing time. I read a little further, and they said that NO paint mfg. recommends the use of any polymer or wax protective coating during the cure time. :huh
On the bottle it says "Great for use on adjacent panels of a spot repair or entire vehicle to improve appearance."
So anyway, here's maybe another option for you. Maybe call Meguiar's first to confirm. 1-800-347-5700

Here is what I would do.
Go down to your local Wal Mart. Head staright to the sporting goods section.
Pick your self out a nice Daisy BB gun with a scope. Next day at work open your window and when any birds fly close to your car take them out. This works well with cat problems also. JMO :lmfao

Thanks for the advice all. Those products mentioned seem like just the ticket. I'll go with mothers since i'm haven't been perticularly happy with mquires stuff in the past. But if i can't find mothers i suppose i'll bite the bullet with the Mquires.
