how can i get an incredible shine like this?

The lighting has a lot to do with it.

Many luxury automakers such as Lexus use special lights in the factory to reveal as many of the paint's flaws as possible when checking the finish.

My guess is that lights for an autoshow would not be -- shall we say? -- quite so revealing, and would only be designed to help automakers put everything in a better light.

I am betting it is just the camera tricking you. That looks to be The International Autoshow. For that the companies pull cars from the local dealer to use. Most companies won't trailer cars around for the shows unless it is a concept.

Not if the car is a concept. The paintwork on them is unreal. The Dodge Charger concept a few years back when I saw it at the Texas State Fair had absolutely no orange peel anywhere and the paint looked a mile deep.

You guys are cracking me up........Ferret swirls!!!

Soon we will be seeing posts about how to get rid of ferret swirls.

Maybe I'll try to come out with some new polish ,FSR ( ferret swirl remover).:)

My 2000 Eclipse looks good from this angle, but in direct light you see the swirls. My '81 Cressida on the other hand just had a 3 stage Omni AU urethane paint job and has 0 swirls, and as hard and thick as the clear coat is it may never have them.

That's what I meant when I said they won't trailer cars around unless they are concepts. Concepts are the trailer queens. The others come off of local dealer lots. ;)

At the last LA Auto show, one of the manufacuturer reps told me that they mostly QD their cars, too many people are getting in and out of them....He said that most consumers don't really notice the swirls and are more interested in sitting inside of the cars.

I basically left it at that, and moved on.

Yep, if you walk around the Detroit International Autoshow you will notice workers just rubbing the cars down with some type of spray and a rag. LOL There are too many people in and out of those cars and sine they are trying to sell them it would not be a good idea to rope them off.

Well no wonder they get swirls with ferret dusters, their little claws probably scratch up the paint....
