Host Dry Carpet Cleaning

Beemerboy

Just One More Coat
I had to take my house vacuum in for service to a local independent guy..I love shops like that...you get the best service and they know what they are selling and talking about...in most cases.

Anywho..I started asking about carpet cleaning and he suggested this company...he gave me a sample of it to try out...he said that two natural ingredients in fighting stains & absorbing, one was corn meal and the other was citrus for breaking down stain and dirt...made sense to me.

What you do is put this stuff down on the carpet....let dwell...then they had a machine, (you can see on the web site) that worked the powder into the carpets, and then you vacuum up..

I'm going to give this a try on an area of our house this weekend and will report back...what I am hoping for is could this be a good alternative to using an extractor in the car...or better in places that I don't want to get that wet..I don't see this (yet) as a replacement to extracting but maybe more as a maintenance for mats and such

Host® Carpet Cleaning - Better than Wetter (TM)

ha ha ha.....dave youre killin me ... you will own 10 more high end beemers but i predict you will never break down and buy an extractor ...funny man ...... :yay:rofl:confused:

Hey Ron....key words in my post

"good alternative to using an extractor"

I didn't say replace....I guess what it boils down with me..is I don't have the use for a real extractor....the cars that I work on are not that bad..but for a guy like you in cow town...its a must have...:rofl

Dave - Host is a great product for the house. I use to sell carpets etc in the 90's. I think Host is probably the best carpet cleaning product, because it does not wet the carpet and it actually works.

The only issue I see with using it in the car is that there could be some of the product flying around as your scrubbing the carpets. Like flicking onto the console etc. Although the product is kind of damp coming right out of the bag so it might not be an issue.

I used it today on my truck...it cleans very well, but as stated by Rewing...when you brush it to work it in...the particles fly every where in the car...making more work for the vac stage and some clean up of panels as well

Would there be any benefit to blowing the product out of the vehicle with your air compressor?
Seems to work with sand, leaves, etc.

The product is like moist citrus smelling saw dust...it sort of clumps together...When you use the brush to work that in..small particles fly about...they also cling to what ever is around the brush...meaning panels, seats, etc...I don't see any advantage to using air, suction is the trick with this product...on floor mats I can see it working very well...its a real deep cleaner...I don't have any mats that need cleaning right now..but I'm interested in seeing how it works on that.

Stop by here. With all the snow, ice, slush, salt, sand, I have mats that need cleaning every day. :wall

Dave:
Did you feel the stuff was worth the price?
$15 for 2.5 pounds of product didn't seem very cost effective.
I can use a lot of liquid carpet cleaner for that kind of money.
$13 buys a gallon of Meguiar's APC that makes 10 gallons of cleaner. Works for me. :)

Charles I can't speak to that level as I've only really used a small amount, but that's been very, very effective...The bag that I got was a sample from the seller....I agree that you can buy liquid cleaners cheaper...I guess the real question is which one works better and lasts longer.
