Honda touch up paint not matching?

Any one ever had trouble with the honda dealer touch up paint not matching? I have a polish-metal-metallic and the touch up paint looks noticibly lighter.

How much should I expect to pay for good paint job?

For a touch up job, does the 3month no waxing rule apply?

Maybe I should give you guys more detail. I was parked in NYC over night. When I got to work today, I notices someone scraped both wheel scoop area last night (maybe a garbage truck?).

If I decide to claim it on insurance, do I need to call the police for a report? Is it too late?

If it's a metallic touch up paint it will NEVER match. Even though they painted the car with the same color, it will never match. The reason is the metallic stands up much differently when it comes out of the paint gun and is baked on compared to the way the metallic stands up if you brush it on, or even use an airbrush.

Touch up paint rarely matches. It goes on way too thick compared to when the car was painted. Also the base underneath makes a big difference. It seems to be concentrated in those little bottles. I have had better luck with purchasing a pint of the original color. If you wet sand and then buff it will make a huge improvement but try to just fill up the scratch with the paint.

Metallic paints hardly match. I have a light green metallic car and the touch-up was a lot lighter. Also, clearcoat makes a big difference in the results.

You can get it to match but it's not easy. You can't just arbitrarilly go and get a tube of paint and call it good. You have to take you car into a professional paint shop and have them read the tint and them make a match based on the tint of you're car's paint. It's a process and usually not very cheap. I used to have a Vibe GT that was burnt orange.. It was a nightmare getting touch up paint for it until I got ahold of a professinal that told me what had to be done.. And it worked.
