Homemade Trim Restorer/Cleaner? And a Rust Question...

I just spent alot of money in detail supplies and just didn't want to shell out another $10+ on a trim product. I was wondering if anyone had any home remedies for cleaning rubber trim (dried wax mainly) and bringing back some of the luster to the rubber, any ideas? BTW, I odered Klasse AIO and PB EX-P, if for some reason these can be used on trim

Also: I hit my car on a low wall about four months ago and it took a little paint off. It was about 1.5 inches long by an eighth inch wide right above a back tire. I didn't think it went down to metal, but it did and it rusted.

What should I use to remove it?
Can touch up paint prevent further rust after removal of rust? If not, what will?

And the big question: Is the rust spreading beneath the paint around the scratch? It doesn't seem bubbly at all, seems fine BTW, I'm in florida so there isn't much of a rust problem as up north.

Thanks

For the problem with the trim:
Try the AIO for removing the wax on your trim. It keeps the black trim on my van looking new and I would be very surprised if it didn't remove the wax. Follow the instructions, Damp applicator, remove right after applying. AIO truly is an amazing product.

For the scrarch:
Pick up one of those pen shaped sanding devices at Wal*Mart and remove all the rust from the scratch. While your at Wal*Mart, get some 3M wax & adhesive remover. Get the can of liquid, not the aerosol stuff. Wipe the area down with the 3M. Now you are ready to paint. Most auto supply stores will have a touch-up paint kit that includes a primer. If you are down to bare metal, you should use the primer first. Follow that up with the color coat and if required, the clearcoat. Again, follow the instructions! Lay on several thin coats over the course of a week and while you can't make it new, you can make it much less obvious. The rust is not likely to be under the paint surrounding the scratch.

Oh yeah, welcome to DC!

I use Simple green and a tooth brush. After that use Coats Bumper-Nu to protect it . It hold's up better than anything I've tried so far.

Cheapest and easiest solution:

Buy a pink pearl pencil eraser. It works wonders on getting wax residue off rubber trim. The only side effect is the pink eraser bits. They easily blow off though.

Try it.
