I just came up with a new formula for glass cleaner that work great. I would like to hear your thoughts on what the long term effects might be on the rubber seals, paint, wax, dashboard and other car surfaces. When I spray it on the glass, some of the fog falls on to the other surfaces. I wipe it off quickly, but I am sure some residue is left behind. It also works great on chrome, metal and plastic types.

The secret formula:

1/3 distilled water
1/3 white vinegar
1/3 90% isopropyl alcohol
 
Yeah, those are very common ingredients. You might not want to use the viengar on aftermarket tinted glass. As for getting it on other surfaces, if you put it in a small spray bottle that spritzes, or maybe even one of those cooking oil pump spray bottles, that could minimize the overspray on surfaces other than the glass.
 
Well, that "recipe" and numerous variations, including the addition of ammonia (but not with vinegar) and/or liquid dishwashing liquid or just vinegar and water have been around for years, probably decades.

Vinegar is a pretty strong product and is very corrosive on metals.

Alcohol has a drying effect.
 
Here's a tip to help you avoid overspray. Don't spray it on the glass. Instead, spray "x" amount onto your MF towel, then proceed to wipe down the window with the "wet" side followed by the "dry" side of the MF towel. Then you won't have to worry about the overspray.
