Holograms gone...pic's and process

New Normal
Yesterday I showed pictures of what an accessory shop can do to a tonneau cover after they had installed same on my truck. Even though they were told to not clean the cover after installation. Here is the link to that thread. http://www.detailcity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16147

Today I took out the PC and tried to work out the holograms and the marring that was instilled by the accessory shop yesterday while in for installation of the tonneau cover.

Process:
Poorboy’s S&W to take the dust off
Detailers Paradise Swirl with LC white polishing pads and PC to take off what ever product that was put on the tonneau cover by the installer.
Menzerna PO106FF with Propel2 Orange cutting pad and PC
Zaino ZPC Fusion with blue Propel pad and PC
Zaino Z6 wipedown
Zaino Z2
Zaino Z8

The Swirl paint cleaner gave me a good paint surface. Almost all the holograms were gone after application. I had hopes that the marring would be gone based on a previous experience with the product. It must have been an anomaly. Because I have never been able to duplicate my initial results with this product. Although it does what it says. It does clean the paint.

Did not have any Optimum products at hand to further enhance the paint surface so I had to go to my stash of Menzerna Po106FF with PC and orange cutting pad.

Next was Zaino ZPC Fusion with a blue Propel pad. It cleaned up anything left by the Menzerna. Needed a surface to apply the old version of Zaino Z2 since I did not have any ZFX at my disposal for this detail. Topped it off with Z8. The end results cannot be captured by my humble attempt of picture taking. Suffice it to say the tonneau cover is as it should be. Looking practically brand new.

Looks like someone had a photo shoot at my work....

Looks great

Ya, I came by so you could see it in real life. Pictures can hide the work but when seen in person there can be no hiding.

Really nice job CW :bigups
If I were you I would take it back to the guy who said he "cleaned it up" and show him what the term means.

ThanksAl-53!

When I was there it appeared to be business as usual for TexasTB's company. He was playing Mr. Mom today because his wife was not feeling well so I did not actually see him at work. There appeared, to my field of view, to be no damged to any doors. Tribute to the Killeen Over Head Door Co., I guess.

That explains why there apppeared to be no damage. Good job, Chris!!!

great work on the holograms. i have seen many covers look like that from a local business that does them. the sad part is they are the most popular in the area and i haven't heard any complaints about it.

Thanks Charles. I appreciate the comments. I really wish that I was a better photographer. The paint does not get its due. When seen in person it is simply startling how dramatic the look changes is thru each step.

Truly the only thing that rocks around here is DC. The forum and its members should be the ones that I thank, for teaching me the techniques that work so well. :dcrules

FANTASTIC!

Tell me more about 116F It's the only Menzerna polish that I haven't tried. How does it cut vs. IP?
