Holograms gone...pic's and process

Yesterday I showed pictures of what an accessory shop can do to a tonneau cover after they had installed same on my truck. Even though they were told to not clean the cover after installation. Here is the link to that thread. http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66383

Today I took out the PC and tried to work out the holograms and the marring that was instilled by the accessory shop yesterday while in for installation of the tonneau cover.

Process:

Poorboy’s S&W to take the dust off

Detailers Paradise Swirl with LC white polishing pads and PC to take off what ever product that was put on the tonneau cover by the installer.

Menzerna PO106FF with Propel2 Orange cutting pad and PC

Zaino ZPC Fusion with blue Propel pad and PC

Zaino Z6 wipedown

Zaino Z2

Zaino Z8

The Swirl paint cleaner gave me a good paint surface. Almost all the holograms were gone after application. I had hopes that the marring would be gone based on a previous experience with the product. It must have been an anomaly. Because I have never been able to duplicate my initial results with this product. Although it does what it says. It does clean the paint.

Did not have any Optimum products at hand to further enhance the paint surface so I had to go to my stash of Menzerna Po106FF with PC and orange cutting pad.

Next was Zaino ZPC Fusion with a blue Propel pad. It cleaned up anything left by the Menzerna. Needed a surface to apply the old version of Zaino Z2 since I did not have any ZFX at my disposal for this detail. Topped it off with Z8. The end results cannot be captured by my humble attempt of picture taking. Suffice it to say the tonneau cover is as it should be. Looking practically brand new.

Looks darn good!

Any pics with more of the truck?

this is the truck sans the tonneau cover. Will take a pick tomorrow of the whole truck if you want to see a recent picture including the tonneau cover.

Yes Al-53, they are bedrails. Have the bulk head and the tailgate as well. Allcovered up with the tonneau cover but there is still a shimmer of stainless steele showing on the sides.

I love my union Al, but not enough to put a sticker anywhere on that rig. I have stickers on almost everything else that I own, though. Including the riding lawn mower that I have to mow that dinky lawn.

I guess the main reason is that the lawn is sod with a very shallow root system. The tree roots run a lot deeper for their water. I stop watering the lawn thru the winter. Around the first of march I start watering again.

It was difficult enough to get them to stand by the warranty. The shop does not carry this brand of tonneau covers any more. Since I did not have my reciept of the purchase and the owner remembered me it was nice just to get the warranty facilitated and the cover fixed and re-installed. No matter the swirls. Gone now. Easy enough I guesss.
