hologram/swirl reappearing

well i just spent a few more hours finishing off my car with the flex, again. this time most of the holograms are gone. there are a few left on one door, but i think i was just getting tired. i like the way it looks and there are no holograms except for that one door. i think i need to try the ultrafina and a blue pad, just to satisfy myself. if i had to do it on a customers car, i would definitely use the rotary to correct and the flex to finish. at least until i get to the point where i can use the rotary to finish. i'm going to my buddies body shop on monday to get some practice panels and spend some time perfecting the technique

Correct, at least in my situation with the Denali XL. The stuff that gradually appeared after months (during which time it was not washed, wasn't even driven more than a few times) was *absolutely* rotary-induced holograms of varying severity. I could watch them become increasingly apparent on a day-by-day basis; the exact same area would go from "hey, is that a really light hologram?" to "woah, look at the hologram! That might even be from the twisted wool!"

Scary thing about that to me is;

If I remember correctly, you said your LSP showed no obvious signs of degredation. So what the heck caused whatever was hiding the defects to slowly fail? It wouldn't be such a big deal to me if there were some traditional fillers that degraded because of things such as environment,washing, etc...but magic time degrading fillers is plain spooky

Yeah, spooky indeed!

If you've ever used Collinite 476S you know how it is when it's healthy, and that was the case here. Whatever changed did so *under* a perfectly OK layer of 476S (!), without exposure to heat/sunlight, without, well....anything that I can think of.

The 476S was so healthy that, as I polished through it, I kept expecting to foul my pads and in fact I used my Wurth CleanSolve on a few panels to keep that from happening.
