hologram questions? Help

I was walking outta WW this morning and i noticed 5 holograms on the passenger side door. The passenger side was facing the sun. I dont understand how i got them. Everything I've done has been done by hand. How do i get rid of these things? Can this be done by hand? I've got a PC but i'm not experienced with it. Are there any goof-proof remedies i could use? Which pads and products would you recommend? I've got some Menzerna FPII and IP and Meg#5. How do i need to go about getting rid of them holograms? Any replies greatly appreciated. HD
 
I recently detailed a car that had some holograms on the rear bumper after it was repainted. I'd never dealt with holograms, but a pass of SSR 2.5 on yellow SFX pad took care of them pretty easily.
 
sevenrd, thanks for the reply. The car is a black O5 Mustang gt. Never been repainted. I just cant understand it. I'm walking by and under the side mirror in the middle of the door. It looks like a J. I keep walking and i see 4 more. Anyway. Thanks agian for the reply bro.
 
usually happends from rotory use, maybe one was used at one point and time and then someone used something with fillers and now your seeing them?
 
As far as i know its never been touched with a rotory. I ordered the car and picked it up right after it arrived at the dealership(yeah, they washed it too). I've got a PC7336 with Orange, White, and Blue pads. I've also got Pinnacle ASR and AFP.
 
True holograms are rotary-induced, but that's splitting hairs as other kinds of scratches can look about the same and it's all just "marring" in the end anyhow...the solution is to abrade the paint. Wild guess as to its actual cause: washing/drying, that's almost always the culprit.



I'd use the PC but you can try working by hand. By hand I'd use either a foam applicator or a MF. By PC I'd use a polishing pad (at least that's what I'd try first). The products I usually recommend (3M PI-III RC 05933 and PI-III MG 05937) might be getting hard to find, but there's no reason you can't get great results with the Menzerna stuff. I'd use that by PC though, not by hand. Don't worry about using the PC...if anything you'll probably wish it were *more* aggressive.



Try the FPII. If that doesn't solve the problem use the IP and then follow up with the FPII.



Note that the Meg's #5 is nonabrasive and while it might hide the problem for a little while, it won't really *solve* the problem.
 
Accumulator. Thanks for the reply bro. I guess it could be marring. Didnt think about that. Should i use an Orange pad with that or White??



#5 - I thought i read that about #5 just more or less hiding the problem and not fixing it.



Okay. So i'm gonna wash/dry the car and then start out with the FPII by PC?

Is this going in the right direction?

brush up on your pc polishing skills, since ur only doing that small area it should be easy to go slow and really work it in.
 
Yeah, see if the white pads'll do it and if not *then* consider resorting to the orange. Work the polishes until they're *almost*, but not quite, dry. Don't overwork them or you'll find out why they call it "Glue-zerna", or so I'm told...never had any problems with FP myself and that's the only Menzerna stuff I've tried. Pretty mild, don't be surprised if you need to use the IP.
