Holidays coming up, need some help

Well Christmas holidays are coming up so I will be able to devote an entire day to my car so I was hoping to get some help for my new routine. I have a black tahoe and the paint is swirled very bad.



This picture belongs to Zaneo on a corvette he did, but mine look exactly the same.

I have to following products and pads

Meg. DACP

Meg. Speed Glaze

Meg. SFP

Meg. Swirl Remover

PB SSR2.5

PwC

VM

EX

EX-P



Meg Cutting Pad

Meg Polishing Pad

Meg Finishing Pad

CMA Cutting Pad

CMA Polishing Pad

CMA Finishing Pad

Orange Power Pad



Ive read alot of thread concerning PC speeds, pads and polishes. And there is alot of confusion on speed setting for the PC. Any suggestions?



So far Ive had this routine in my head.



SSR2.5 w/ ???? Pad at ????? speed

Speed Glaze or SFP w/ Polishing pad at 4-5

VM w/ Polishing Pad at ???? speed

Hello Beason. Remember, these are only MY opinions. In working with SSR 2.5 I would suggest you work the product in at "2" then increase to "5". If that does not work then move up to SSR 3 or a cutting pad.



I would also use the same speed for VM.

I would start out with SSR2.5 and a polishing pad. Spread it around on 3-4, bump it up to 5, or 6 if you're comfortable with it. If the results aren't satisfactory, try a cutting pad on 5. You shouldn't need anything more than the polishing pad though.....



Then, #80 Speed Glaze w/a polishing pad - spread on 3-4, bump to 5.



VM is optional. After Speed Glaze, I don't think it would be necessary, but I'd use it the same way I'd use Speed Glaze.



Work each product in until it almost disappears, then buff off and inspect the finish :xyxthumbs

Always start out with the least aggressive polish/pad and then step up if needed.



If your finish does look as bad as the picture then you may want to start out with 2.5 on a polish pad. Spread the polish around at about speed 3 or 4 and then bump up your speed to 5 or 6, but make slow arm passes. Starting off at a slower speed is something I like to do, but others just like to jump in at 5 or 6. Itâ€â„¢s just a personal preference and youâ€â„¢ll have to decide what works best for you. If this doesnâ€â„¢t take care of the defects after two or three applications then move up to the orange pad, and then to a cutting pad if needed (I wouldnâ€â„¢t use the Megâ€â„¢s burgundy pad though).



Depending on what pad you wind up using you may or may not have to follow-up with Megâ€â„¢s #80. Youâ€â„¢ll just have to evaluate the finish when youâ€â„¢re done and see how it looks. #80 breaks down a lot faster than something like #83 so work it at about speed 5 or 6 also, and when it changes color to clear (or sometimes pink) then itâ€â„¢s finished and you can buff it off with a MF.



I use VM with a polish pad and work it anywhere from about speed 3 to 6. If following up #80 your finish should look pretty good so a slower speed may be fine.



EX by hand is fine, but I find I can apply a thinner coat with the PC and a finish pad.
 
Since you used my example :D I'll tell you my process.



That car got Menzerna IP with an orange pad on speed 5 x2, followed by Menzerna FP with a whie pad.



With your products and some knowledge of Chevy paint, I would recommend Poorboy's SSR 2.5 with an orange pad on 5-6, followed by Meguiar's Speed Glaze with a white pad on 5, and finish it off with Poorboy's EX.

I only with I had IP and FP, that car came out incredible!! White as in CMA Polishing Pad?
 
how do you like the Lake Country pads? Is the cutting pad as "harsh" as the Meg. Pad, cause i think its really to strong for most applications.
 
The LC orange cutting pad fell apart on me on the 2nd use. I've read about other people having great experiences with LC pads, but mine with the orange pad wasn't too hot. My LC white polishing pads on the other hand are holding up nicely.
