Highly impressed with Wolf's Deironizer Decon Gel (wheel cleaner)

Iron-x is the first and only decon product that I have tried so far. I was pleased with the results but hate the odor. After reading this post on Wolf's decon and seeing it is cheaper , I have three small questions. Does it also stink and does it do as well on painted panels and finally where do most of you purchase it ?Thanks for the info.

No stink from the Wolf's.

Yes works on paint too.

Phil at Detailers domain carries it.

Thanks Bryan

Looks like a gallon of Wolf's decon and some of the black mf's that are on sale will get ordered today. :biggrin1:

Almost ready to chunk the half bottle of IronX I have because of the stink and the quote I saw the other day about them changing the formula for 'health' reasons! Not sure if I'm going to go with Wolf's or the Valugard ABC stuff though.

Check again cptzippy about the problem with the product. It wasn't Iron-X , it was another with a similar name in that post. I also read that and was ready to toss my iron-x till I noticed the difference. I haven't tried the Valugard either but did pull the trigger on the Wolf's decon from Phil.

I've tried while comparing Sonax FE to Wolf's Brake Duster last year. Here are some pics:

First hit:

Second hit and swiched sides Sonax on Wolf's initial application area and vice-versa

I noticed only very slight colour change on multiple applications.

I don't really like Sonax all that much to be honest. I've had better results actually cleaning the wheels with P21S gel then doing a subsequent ironx application for decon. I've been dying to try wolfs as an alternative to ironx, but rasky and I split a 5L of Ironx, so I'm set for the forseeable future.

Can't seem to find the thread. Definitely could be my flibbity-gibbit brain, there seems to be one or two more of these products that have a similar 'iron' name.

This? It was Iron Cut and not IronX. I removed that thread cause I mis-titled it through confusion while working on a write up :o I was using IronX on my detail, and saw this about the Iron Cut :) Sorry about that..

"Ladies and gentlemen,

Because Iron Cut was very harmful formula treatments, we had to change it for our health.

New formula Iron Cut has no longer bad smell and cause stains make.

The water repellent effect is also improved.

Especially, as AQuartz Iron Cut has water-repellent effect, after rinsing Iron Cut, the remaining water-repellent effect

helps in avoiding the formation of rust on the surface of brake rotors and body surface.

Because its liquid is bluish colour, you should be distinguishable from those of our rivals.

Beacuse previous Iron Cut was not for good health and has very bad smell, we had to change the formulation

for a safe treatments.

After previous Iron Cut sprayed, it seemed a reaction time very fast purple clour to Iron fillings, but that wasn't exact correct.

Actually, it reacted purple colour to Air, Iron fillings and somethings like that.

Because it kepts on react to Air continuously, it happened to make a big damage on the car paint

if we did not rinse it completely.

It made a the surface of brake rotors and body surface rust continuously.

So we had to strengthen the strength and made up for the weakness.

New formula Iron Cut reacts purple colour to Iron fillings only, if there are no Iron filling, no puple colour to change.

As it has a water-repellent effect, its reaction time is little slow than previous Iron Cut

because it makes to prevent the water-absorb.

If you want to see its quick reaction, you should use a paint brush or a sponge after you spray it.

Please contact us to obtain the new Iron Cut improved and try to test it.

Thank you!. "

That's the one. Searched for Iron Cut and everything. Was kinda hoping it was Iron X - could smell that junk for days afterward.

Apparently, Iron-x is also new and improved, and comes with a Cherry scent...:D Also this isn't nearly as thick as it was before, easier for spraying it.

Ive tried sonax, ironx and wolfs.. I think I may have received an early version of wolfs because, frankly, it wasn't good at all. I know they have improved it, I will have to try again. Between ironx and sonax I find ironx to be more effective on wheels with a lot of brake dust. On lightly dusted wheels they are basically the same (imo).

I have not found any wheels were the latest version of wolf's wont work for a spray, dwell and rinse. Porsche, BMW and Audi. Treated with wolfs or not, it gets it done every time.

I think they're up to v3 of the Wolf's - this version was released December or January.
