Hi, I got introduced into this forum by the previous owner of my car. It is a 98 240sx; not any luxury sport car like those Ferrari and Porsche that I found in this forum. But took me a long time to find and I do want to take a very good care of it.

I've been very actively taking care of my cars, but after I read this forum's Guide, I found myself doing the wrong way by using the wrong technique and wrong tools. So first of all I really want to find myself a right set of tools. I hope somebody who also live in Bay Area can tell me if there is a complete detail supply store with affordable price. Thanks.

Frank

Hey Frank, welcome to the club. Let me know what I can do to help you out.

Bunmango, I see you're in berkeley also! We should meet up sometime and just have lunch. I'm working this week and next week probably. Got a line of cars lined up. Want to trade products, or sample? PM Me!

you guys are lucky. get to sit down and chit chat with other board members. sacramento is far from the bay. hahaha.

hey it's cool man, my name is Sam by the way. I should put that in my profile haha. Anywyas, you're always mor than welcome to stop by berkeley! There's always SOMETHING going on around here. Do you guys know of any good local places to buy supplies besides Kragen and Autozne? I need some new WW microfibers.

*edit* Let me know if you guy order something from a place, i'll split the shipping with you or pay some amount :).

Hey, thanks Sam and Keesue. Kragen, autozone and redzone are I all I know so far. I just checked Auto Detailing, it is pretty cool. Is it carrying good price compare to other stores too?

Frank

Auto Detailing is a great place, i'd order from there but paying 10.99 for #26 yellow wax and paying 6 dollars on top of that for wax isn't worth it. They do give you some awesome prices. Have you tried those WW drying towels from Meguiars?

I've been reading this forum's detail guide. I'm thinking to get some Meguiars' products, like its Mit & Wipe, but I'm still confuse for what microfiber towels to get. I've been using the yellow towels from Custco, haha it's cheap and works very well, but I don't know which category does it fit into: washing, drying, or buffing. But I think it is a microfiber towel?

Oh, I heard from my previous owner that he doesn't use wax, but he uses some brand called "Klasse" which protect paint. He had been keeping the car in an awesome condition, can't complain any about it. Any idea of it? Is it a quick detailing spray?

Sorry got so many questions :)

mose. i forgot you were in the area. but youre around folsom which is about 25 30 minutes away. dude are you familiar with tahoe joe's? we should hit that up sometime and grab a steak and beer. what is there to talk about? new techniques and getting more customers.

name is john by the way. so next time we can just call eachother by name.

dongoesby ~ Klasse is an german brand. they have both sealants and all in one polishes (chemical polish though). They're a great brand, just tricky to work with sometimes though.

John - I'm going to place my order for the HT-69. I want to see how it works. I think it'd be a great addition to my aresnal of products. :).

Hey Sam, is that the stuff like opt poli-seal? I read somewhere or another product has the abilities of ht-61 which is the light cut. I myself have light cut and it works very well. I add a little bit of OP for extra working time.

Yeah, they actually have two versions, Best One-Step Wax (Which is actually a selaant) HT-69, and then they have a Best One Step Polish & Wax (which is the carnuba version) HT-285.

Ht-69 has light cut with a sealant in it. I wanted to buy it due to economic sakes, but I know OPS isn't that expensive at all. It's exactly like it, but i don't know how well the cut is on it. Scott told me that OPS has a higher cut than PwS, but he's not sure about the HT-69. I'd need a sample of each one in that case to show which one does what.

TOL just sent out my shipment today, so i'm hoping to try it out next week. If anyone has a sample (1oz or less) of PwS or OPS that they can "share", I'd more than gladly to do the experiment. First class mail for that thing is probably less than 50 cents. :).

Mose, if youre in the arden area, who is in the folsom area? i thought someone bought an old school VW and said they were located in the folsom area. steak and beer.

I started out with Costco yellow microfiber towels. they worked well but i have move onto other ones like megs, vroom, and excel towels. The yellow ones have become my all purpose ones for the dirty work like rims and interior stains

Klasse is a combo of a All-in-one cleaner and polish but more of a cleaner than polish if that makes sense and a sealant glaze. It has a great look and shine but the sealant glaze can be hard to use for some.

sam let me know if you plan to order anything because i am interested in slipping the shipping cost too. ive been looking into chemical guys stuff and things from excel detail. let me know
