Hi Autopia users, Niall here.
I'll try and be polite and introduce myself by answering the 15 suggested questions.
I wound up here after trying hard to find the right products to reduce the time I spend de-bugging my fleet of rental campers and cars. Last year was my first year running the company and through the summer it gets pretty tough. I want to be as environment-friendly as possible but I do want to keep the vehicles looking good. I'm trying to find the ideal product aresnal for my workshop & a go-to person for more difficult / time consuming jobs.
The thing I like most about detailing has got to be a lasting result. Its awesome to have a car that holds its shine
My favourite products, I don't have them yet. Everything I've used seems pretty average. Maybe just degreaser for removing tar?
Dream car.. Megabusa for track, Prius for road. People who have fast roadcars and never put them on a track are daft, wasting resources and never experiencing them properly. Go to the Nurburgring, its fun
Best thing I learned.. Too much and not enough. Its a lot more than wash, wipe, forget!
Other hobbies, Surfing, MTB, Geeking, Outdoors, EDM (electronic dance music).
No pets
3 techniques... Don't snake, don't drop in, do distract. Those are legitimate ways of getting more waves than your buddy. I feel I have nothing useful to offer this forum yet, sorry.
I'm from Wales but now I live in Raglan, New Zealand
My first car was a '73 Beetle with tangerine peel paint & no roof. Keeping a reputation for a fantastic holiday rentals company is what motivates me to keep my vehicles as good as I can.
Of course I'd pay someone else if they could do it well & economically (that's very different to cheap)
Detailing does not run in the family. It seems I'm slowly becoming 'normal'.
Hmm, favourite, already had that haven't we? Getting something that looks horrible & turning it into a shiny car someone will pay money to use is pretty nice.
Detailing is now a part of my job. As long as you don't make it an 'inescapable' career then there's no reason for the fun to go out of it.
Cheers,
Niall
