Well all areas are covered..believe me I checked:D

As for the Metabo, it is a great machine. I own the older model and it works fantastic for polshing/finishing work. I highly recommend one for all serious detailers.

As for the metal "skid" plate. That can be removed easily. I am using the Metabo on a white Audi A8 right now....just taking a break:cool:

Anthony,

Does the new Metabo have variable speed control on the trigger, or is the speed set on a seperate dial and then the trigger acts like a switch?

This is the one feature that determines whether I go for the 12-175 or the Makita.

Thanks,

Ben.

Hey Ben,

It's a non-trigger polisher. There is a speed dial that sets your speed, much like a PC and then an on/off switch. You can adjust speed on the fly.

Why do we even waste our time talking about detailing? I need to detail this weekend but because of you Anthony I will be renting videos this weekend. :grinno: Maybe I can figure out a way to watch videos in the garage and detail at the same time. I would probably waste alot of product. Wes

The latest flick with Selma and that James Bond dude.....Pierce Brosnan, who by the way gets my wife hot and bothered, is cool cause it has Pierce for the gals (or guys depending on what turns your crank:nono ) but it also has Selma in a bikini:woot: Now I am happily married but not blind to true beauty:D

This thread may make the Hall of Fame. :woot2: And we can make a top ten list of the things Selma and a Metabo have in common. Wes

just curious... if anyone could do it all over again after buying the metabo, would you get a dewalt, makita, or hitachi instead?

Thats the one I have, its very nice quite light although I don't like the on/off switch that is my only negative comment so far !

After three days of my Metabo, I'm loving it. Solid, sleek, beautiful, a monster. It's the BMW M3 of Rotary Polishers.

I'm kind of a tool nut and am partial to German Engineering. I like Metabo and Bosch a lot. Too bad Bosch don't make a detailing polisher. It would probably be somewhere between the price range of a Dewault and a Metabo.

But to answer your question. If I could do it all again. I would buy the metabo All over again. Maybe a Hitachi because that thing is so dang cheap, but I'd buy that for my helper to use. :chuckle:

I could see myself trying out the 2-mode Rotary/DA Makita in the not too distant future.

Bosch does make a rotary:

The Porter-Cable 7428 is made by Flex, PC's German subsidiary (and costs about the same as a Makita or Dewalt). :)

Better get 'em while you can, I heard B&D won't be importing them any more. :(

PC.
