I needed one, and i have read threads that some other pro's wanted one, so here it is:

A VEHICLE CHECK IN FORM!!

screen.jpg

Created in excel using only that little image of Brian (NYD)'s and one other small image that i could barely read on my laptop screen, as a base point. You now have a fully customizable form, Please feel free to take and change and use it as you please.

Download it here!!

Oh, and if anyone has better car pictures, like good wire frames or something, i would love it if i could use them, but for now an M3 willhave to suffice on them.

Happy Detailing,

Michael Gleeson

And what is this check list used for? I am sort of confused...as always. Is it to check things off as you get them detailed or just to mark things that the car has? Mine is not coming up clear. I will have to print it from work.

The checklist is a pre detail workaround. It is mostly identical to this:

Thanks to Brian (NYD) for this one :wavey Without his form, this would never have come to be. I have also recieved a few suggestions for improvement that i am going to try and work on. So thanks for the input, and thanks for all the positive feedback. Oh, and if there are any other forms that you might like t have, and i could possibly find useful, let me know, i will see what i can quick make up.

Sweet job buddy. You just saved me a ton of work. If you are making any revisions I would add a spot at the bottom with the recommended service and cost to go with the customer signature. Really a nice job on this form. Kudos.

Check this one out, is it what you are looking for? if not, i can always change it.

Revision 2

I also recieved a comment that i should create a database of different makes and models, so that if you know that you are going to check out a lexus rx300, or a subaru, you can have the correct picture at the click of a button. Does anyone else like thi sidea, and would use it if i implemented it into the page?

Very nice. I have been wanting to do something like this for a long time and just don't have the design skills to make it look that nice. Are you a graphic designer by trade? Either way a very nice piece and you should be commended for sharing with all the detailers out there. It's too bad there aren't more guys like you out there willing to help each other out in this field.

I have some other ideas in mind for forms detailers can use for interviewing a customer over the phone and a few other things and basicly have the script written already - if anyone is interested I will post it and maybe our fine friend tpgsr will make up a form for it. A written interview form is really handy in asking ALL the right questions when someone calls and wants a quote for service.

I would seriously pay money for something like that... its something I've wanted for quite some time but just havent had the time or ambitions to do anything like it. Awesome skills!! :bow :bow

Actually I am going into my 3rd year of business school (not very successfuly), I am a Chef by night, and creating and operating a detailing business whenever i can get time. (this form was part of it all)

I have done some graphic design, I do design and program all my own forms, web, P.O.S. software, etc... I pretty much try to do and learn whatever i can. If you give me a decent script for a Interview, i will give back a decent form :) You can either post it here, PM it to me, or e-mail it to [email protected]

I think that the interview form would be a great idea, right now i am im the habit of trying to set up an initial visit to check out the car and give a price quote, because i feel too unorganized over the phone. I would love to trade a nice looking form for the content that is contained. Thanks for the great idea, lets see if we can get some more (who knows, maybe i can make up a whole set of matching custom forms available excusivley to the autopia community)

EDIT:

Thanks alot, I am really excited for all the positive feedback that i am getting. So much so that yes these will definatly remain free, and that i now WANT to make more since they are seeming to be more valuable than i would have thought. Name it, i will work on it.

Thought of another one for ya! How about a really slick looking checklist for after detailing the car with the same pictures of the M3? That would be really handy.

I'm interested in seeing that!

I have e-mailed the information so he can have a look at it and post it if he decides to design up a form.

Allright, this form is going to be a little different, i am going to try and set it up on-line as a php file that you can fill in a simple form, and get a customized page from it. The page generated will be able to be copied and pasted safely into word, or other text editor, and able to be edited to suit your exact needs. If anyone wants to help or comment on the sesign process, or just play with and try to find error within the php form, you can see the 2 necessary files at:

First (the web-form that creates the actual form):

First

Second (the actual sheet still undergoing heavy formatting and revision. Special thanks goes out to ShineShop for the content on this one.):

:wavey thats all for now ~Mike
