I need some help. What can I use to get rid of old adheasive residue off of the interior of a S10? Its from a crappy faux wood grain kit. The owner wants it gone.

You'd probably want to go with some sort of solvent since the adhesive used with wood kits is pretty heavy duty. I know Auto Magic makes one, and most other pro chemical manufacturers probably do too. If you can't find one, I'd try a more concentrated than usual APC dilution.

Hope this helps.

The 3m stuff completely removed thick windshield tar ( excess sealant ) that had been on the replaced windshield line abotu a year .

It shoudl work

red n white can , smells VERY dangerous

I've got the same residue in my car and haven't found anything that will get rid of it without also removng the grain of the plastic. I've tried 3M Adhesive Remover, Goo-Gone, and countless other adhesive removers to no avail. If you can figure out how to get rid of it, please let me know.

goo gone works perfectly. Only problem is that sometimes there will be a little spot that was peeling up so the person will glue it back down with superglue. I have no idea how to get that off.

I believe there is a solvent based Goo Gone and also a water-based Goo Gone. I would only use the water-based when working on interior plastics.

Most use an arcrylic based adhesive for those trims, so any petroleum disllate based solvent is good, such as WD-40, Varsol or paint thinner will not harm plastics around the interior dash. Also warming it up with a hair dryer or a heat gun will also help.

For situations like this I use AG Intensive Tar Remover. Brings sticky crap off real easy and has never caused me any problems on interior plastics. It states on the bottle that it's suitable for use on plastics as well (not that that means a great deal!)
