Help with Water Etching?

Update - spent all day buffing. Using Menzerna Intensive Polish on Orange Pad at speed 6 and lots of pressure. I have to go over each spot at least 2 times and sometimes 3 times. I am also using lots of product. However the car is looking much better. I'm not getting it all, maybe 85 to 90%. I hope to finish buffing on Sunday and start putting on some Z5.

you might want to move down to an yellow pad as well. I used an orange pad with meguiars fine cut cleaner, and that did not do the trick.

Finally finished after 2 days of buffing with Menzerna Intensive Polish using PC, Orange pad on speed 6. I only had time to put 1 coat of Z5 and Z6 on it it before dark. In a couple of months, I will do it again and try and remove last 10 to 15% of etching.

Newbies - My lessons learned:

1. Research - tons of information on the board.

2. Read - lots of insight already provided for most problems.

3. Develop a plan - don't just ask for others to do it all for you.

4. Ask for advice - get help to see if you are on track.

Water etching is no joke! It is very tough to get the paint flat after significant water etching. Here is what I had to do, i.e. my process is a 23 second summary:

IMHO, wet-sanding is the fastest and safest (yes safest) way to handle water etching.
