Help with rockchips *PIC*

Raven let us know how the Langka turned out. I had read something about using the clay bar with in 12 hrs of applying the touch up paint. Supposedly the blue Clay Magic bar is better and more aggressive. Kompressornsc can you enlighten us on how you used the clay bar to level out the touch up paint?

Lots of lube (constant spraying) and about 1/2 the pressure you would normally use with clay-just let it glide over. Use a sanding motion. It will take a while (couple of minutes on a big fill), but it does work without pulling it out of the chip. I've even done it on really old fills & it worked just as well. I took some pics of a spot I did, but my camera is really poor close up so they didn't come out well. Just trust me-it works! ;)

Kompressornsc how much time do you recommend using the clay bar after applying the touch up paint? Doing this is not going to cut down on the clear coat of the surrounding area?

I dunno?? I've done it within an hour, and as long as months afterwards. Works the same. I don't think clay is strong enough to cut the clear-just touch up. I do make sure the area is really clean and well lubed when I do it, though. It ain't rocket science-I just think it's easier than Langka.

Kompressornsc, had good weather this weekend. Got the touch-up paint from the dealer. Experimented on a couple chips. Built up each coat, with an hour inbetween. After the last coat dried for an hour, tried the clay. This did not work. I clayed for a good 15 min with lots of lube with no noticable improvement, still have the blobs. Am I doing something wrong? Thinking about going with Langka, any one know if this works or not?

I don't know...

Maybe there is someting in the MB touch up paint that's different?:hm

Mine takes maybe a minute or two on really bad fills. Don't know what to tell you...

As I've said, the Langka was my preferred method until I found clay, so maybe try that. Good luck!
