In the winter, I always had rubber mats in the car on top of the OEM cloth mats. What happened to me was the rubber mat "overflowed" and allowed water into the cloth mats and the carpet underneath. It wasn't SOAKED but it was moist at the time. Everything has dried now but I still have a mildewy smell that I notice. I cleaned the cloth mats with the upright carpet shampooer I rented and they seem fine. It's the carpet that lines the floor of the driver's side that smells if I put my nose to it. It's not terrible but I still notice it some days when I get in the car.
Aside from using an extractor, I have no other ideas as to how to get the smell out from the floor. Would you say covering the floor with baking soda and working it in would fix it?
Thanks
