Help with Honda paint

Today i did my trunk with a PC. I did 1st pass 2.5 with Propel orange cutting pad speed 4 then 5 then 6, it began to dust so i stopped and used QD to wipe off the polish. Most of the swirls were out but lots of scratches left. Then i did the same exact process all over again. Swirls gone but scratches left. Then i switched to SSR3 with yellow cutting pad speed 6. Some scratches were gone some still left. Used QD to wipe off. Then did SSR3 with orange pad on 6 and still nothing. So i gave up and used SSR2 to finish off. The paint feels very smooth and it looks shiny, but when you look at it at a certain angle when the bright light shines on it i could still see lines and scratches. This process took me an hour and a half to do, and i didnt use too much product. Maybe i should go for a stronger polish? I have a honda accord frost white, i beleive it is single stage paint and to me it seems like the paint is real hard. What are your thoughts on this?
 
honda paint is actually pretty soft. you almost have to work in reverse with it. instead of going up in agressiveness, try going down. try ssr1 on a polishing pad and see if that doesnt take out your defects. what's happening is the agressive pad/polish combo is leaving its own scratches. by using a gentle pad/polish combo, your going to clear up those defects left by the agressive combo. and an easy way to tell if your paint is single stage, are your pads the color of the car?
 
His Honda is a single stage white. Which means the pigment comes from titanium dioxide, a very hard pigment.

Single stage white is not soft.
 
I had a frost white acura for several years, and it was definitely clear coated. I also agree with finishing it down to determine where you really are. I've heard hondas have soft paint, and that may very well be as far as instilling swirls and scratches. correcting them is a different story and a bit tedious in my experience. I spent a lot of time on that finish and it was repainted in the end. you're using the same products I did, and 2.5 finished down nicely all by itself. so I'm wondering if the scratches you're talking about are deep and persistent or if you're seeing new scratches developing as you polish.
 
Well maybe I'm wrong. I've always thought that Honda/Acura white was single stage. :nixweiss Are there two different whites offered on Hondas/Acuras?



I guess the way to know for sure is to ask Tableturns if he is getting white coloration on his pads when using the polish. That's the way to know for sure.
 
good point. now I'm a little curious myself. I repainted that car after it was pelted in a gravel / wind storm, and all the hundreds of little pits all showed a clear layer. it was a 97 cl.
 
I never need to use anything more than IP and a polishing pad on the PC for my cars. Honda paint is very soft and easily corrected but also easily marred. The 2.5 is likely the wrong choice.
 
So what would you say my choice woule be SpoiledMan? My last pass i did was with SSR2 on a green pad and they were still there. They are not deep scratches but you can see them if you look at it from a certain angle. So guess i will have to use something with fillers. But then i want to use AIO and KLasse G but they wont bond to whatever i use with fillers. So i just don't know what to do.
 
Give it a go with the 2 and various pads and see if that helps. If that doesn't do it then you might be working with that hard SS white that Maxi was talking about. I'm unfamiliar with the Honda white's.
 
If i use AIO then 3 coats of KSG then 2 coats of Collinite 476s will that help hide the scratches that i couldnt remove?
