Tough I'm sure there are a select few capable of finishing off a car the right way....I've just never seen one!

You know, it's off-topic, but I've never seen one that could even paint to my standards.

Another of my "credit where credit is due" posts- I have repainted areas that *NOBODY* could ever spot, and that's on *silver* It doesn't always turn out that well by a long shot, but some guys really are miracle-workers and they guys I'm using these days are *that* good.

Gee, hope I'm not jinxing things...gotta get some paintwork done soon :nervous:

Really? How have they failed? I've seen many good painters over the years, my father being one of them. ;)

A body shop once told me, "we paint cars, but buffing is not our thing." As far as Im concerned, that goes for every body shop out there.

yeah it really sucks in this day and age that paint companies dont inform body shops and users of their products the proper finishing methods. i know a lot of body shops that pay paint correction specialists to come in and do work for certain customers. i have done a lot of work for local body shops, but its not every car. which sucks because every car they touch leaves looking like a hack finished it and the bosy shop actually tells the customer "we detailed it". that along with results such as the OP received gives those of us who strive for perfection a bad name and devalue our services with cheap pricing.

to the OP, if you cant find some one to give you the results you are looking for, get the products you need and do it yourself

My last experience with the "best" in town is a good example. Two hairs in the clear, clear overspray across the driver's side fender (work was on hatch on a 4runner), panel not straightened enough for trim to fit back right...

That sucks. A lot of the shops now days don't even know what body work is anymore...all they do is replace panels now and a bunch of monkeys can do that.

My experience is that many of them think they can straighten a panel and they can't. I always try to get them to just replace everything, but insurance usually won't pay for it.
