I have been using products given to me by a trusted friend on my buffer (lake country) it was only a polishing pad and a finishing pad. My question here is i have been looking at the Sonus SFX Foam Pad Kit, is that a good kit to get?

Foam Pad Kit for Porter Cable 7424 & Ultimate Detailing Machine Car Polisher

i wanted to get a heavy cutting pad to get rid of some of the scratches/swirl marks... basically I have a pretty good understanding of what i am doing, i just need good products to be recommended to me to purchase. The car i will be buffing is red and has slight scratches on the surface that i hope to be able to repair....

also I was wondering if this waterspot remover actually works..?

Ultima Paint Prep Plus Pre-wax Polish

any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would go with a Porter Cable kit, much more reliable polisher. I would also get 4 inch pads instead of 6 if you intend to do correction. Go to the top, click the "search" button and type in what you want to learn. Lots of valuable info in the archives

i would go with the flex da and 6" pads and a couple 4". if cost if a factor the pc is the way to go. the flex gives you better and faster results than a pc. the flex also gives you a better stepping stone for making the switch to a rotary should you go that way.

I forgot to mention I already have a pc... I've used it a few times with lake country pads... I am just wondering what kind of liquid/pads i should get for swirl marks and scratches.

4" pads, 1Z Einszett Pro Line Intensive Paste “Pasta Intensiv , 1Z Einszett Pro Line High Gloss Polish and your choice of lsp.

i use the edge adapter so i use the cyclo pads designed for it in orange, green, and white. if don't use the edge pads lake county makes 4" pads with velcro backing. in lc 4" i have orange, green, white, and black or blue.

so the lake country pads are good? im pretty sure the backing plate i have is 5 or 6" so i think the 4" pads are out... but where do i buy the liquid u recommended above?

ok i just made a purchase.. .got all lake country pads (6 1/2") cause i dont have a 4" backing plate, and i couldnt find one on lake countrys site that would fit my pc. So anyway i got 1Z-Intensive-Paste-1000ml, and the 1Z-High-Gloss-Polish-1000ml.

Now i am assuming i use the intensive paste with heavy or medium cut pads right? but what pad do i use for the high gloss? I also bought the final finish made by 1Z as well, so what pad do i use for that? I am thinking polishing pad for the high gloss and a finishing/finesse pad for the final finish, is that right?

also should i really consider the 4" pads? do they show that much of an improvement over the 6 1/2"?

ip would typically be used with orange or green pads and hg would be used with green or white while the lsp would typically be used with black, blue or red. these are only mere suggestion and some experimentation on your part will be required to find the right combo for your car. i would strongly recommend that you get the 4" pads. you could always try the 6.5" pads first, but i think you wouldn't see to much correction with them. i believe that autogeek as well as some ohters sell the 4" backing plate for the pc.
