Indeed! As upset as I am at the current situation, it would have been much more difficult to maintain composure had the Mustang received the hatchet job.
 
wow, I've never seen such a terrible blend. And that overspray looks like they just hacked the masking portion of the job.



I don't know of any shops in the greater Toronto area (because i'm on the west coast) but a full correction/overspray removal will be about 400 dollars or so, give or take, and take about two to three hours to complete.



As for the mismatched panel, you would be better off taking it to an independent body shop and letting them know what happened.

That's not the approach I would take if I were you. I would be asking that Ford send a regional rep to evaluate the car and determine if the "repairs" were even done properly -- as in, whether what was done was in accordance with warranty procedures. If they were not, Ford should be doing much more than just paying for a professional detailer.



Realize that if this were a collision repair situation and you were going through insurance, you'd be in the position to file a DV claim -- this should be no different considering the amount of paintwork that was done to the vehicle.



Also, it is not up to you to give the dealer or Ford a fair budget number. The person doing whatever work needs to be done will bid out the job at their own rate and submit the bill to whoever is paying it.



In either case, if it were me I'd be pushing for a replacement car, given the circumstances.
 
^^Great point about about having a Ford representative inspect the painted area to ensure the work meets warranty requirements. I will certainly mention this to the customer service manager who is scheduled to contact me.



Regarding the budget number, I was merely just looking for a figure to get the ball rolling. After the latest "repair" the quarter panel looks fine to me as the base colour match is excellent and the finished texture matches the adjacent panels. I feel at this point if the dealer or Ford will cover the cost of an independent detailer to preform the over spray removal and any required paint correction, we would be well on the way to closure (assuming confirmation from Ford that the repair conforms to warranty requirements).
 
David pointed me to this thread. Unreal. I couldn't believe the pics in the first post. Actually, I take that back... I can, which is sad. Hopefully this works out. I actually just purchases a Focus too; personally I would push for a new car. No reason you should have to live with a repaired brand new car. It just might be tough finding another race red one. :(



Edit to add: to those mentioning decreased value; unfortunately in Ontario we do not have decreased value as a part of insurance. Obviously this wasn't through insurance but either way there is no way to claim DV. You could sue for it, but I have no idea how that would work. I think the easiest thing would be to involve Ford Canada and go from there.
