Help Me!!!

I'm doing the hood of my `97 BMW 528i and I can't seem to get rid of this oxidation. Certain spots have a cloudly/white look to them, so I think it is oxidation. I have tried OC & OP on all three Edge 2000 cutting pads at speed 6. I have tried Rubbing Compound on a medium cutting pad at speed 5. I am using a P/C 7336. What else should I try?

Try posting pictures, you might be dealing with clearcoat failure of some kind. It sounds like you have been pretty aggressive so far, so if it were oxidation it sounds like it should have come out by now.
 
This has the look of a cloud reflection, except it is not a cloud. I forgot my camersa, so I can't get pics. It is somewhat blotchy in areas. I know BMW in notoriously hard, so am I being impatient?

When it comes to detailing, patience is definitely a required attribute.



How long are you working the polish? How big of an area are you working at a time? Also, when mixing Optimum Compound and Polish together, be sure to use just a *tiny* bit of polish, and 99% compound. Too much polish will dillute the compound down to the point of being semi/non-effective.
 
Pictures would be very helpful. Are you the original owner? Your description is similar to a few older cars that I have seen. From your post it *sounds* like clear coat failure. You went at it with an agressive program and it should have made some difference. Are you getting any color transfer to the pad after compounding?

I have not mixed the polish and compound. I am not the original owner, actually I am The fourth. Looking at the chips, the colour is darker in the chip than in the surounding area, I'm almost certain it is clear coat failure. I have not gotten colour transfer on the pad.
