Ok guyz here's my dilemma! I detailed my second car with the 7424 PC and it cam out great except i realuzed i think i have possibly minor scratches in some parts of my paint! It kinda bump'd me out a bit :nixweiss ! J/w is it fixable and wut did i do wrong?!

My process was as follows:

NXT Wash

(no clay due to claying 2 weeks prior and a good waxing!)

SSR1

AIO

SG

Only thing I can think of is make sure you have enough product.

You don't want to buff with a dry pad. That causes too much heat and friction which results in marring/swirling/scratching. Since you are using the SSR's, they are very easy to work with and remove. Try using more product next time...you'll eventually find that niche amount.

thanx sean! ohh and nice post on the pics of every1 it's funny to see! Your like dude thats wut that guy looks like! lol

i had the same problem also with the exception of using the SSR1. Someone on this BB recommended I try the meguire's #80 so 4 weeks later I did, then followed with the AIO and my wax and that took care of the minor scratches I didn't get the first time.

Now, I dont know if it was because I did it all again 4 weeks later OR if it was adding the #80. I think it was adding the #80 because the AIO is not very abrasive and the #80 is. My paint was in good condition to begin with but my goal was always to get rid of those scratches and swirls you saw when you got up close to the car.

I don't know much about SSR1 and where it falls on the abrasiveness scale, maybe it's comparable to #80? I don't know I'll leave that up to the pros on the board.

Good luck.

It also could be that the scratches were already there and the SSR 1 was not abrasive enough to remove them. I have found that AIO brings out minor scratches/micromarring rather than filling them...just my obervation here, but often times scratches & swirls are "hidden" and washing & or light polishing will reveal them.

Are you saying that there are scratches in the paint that were not there before you polished? Or are you saying that the polishing didn't remove some of the scratches that were already there?

I am saying i thnk that i developed more scratches nothing deep or noticeable, but wen i look for them i can find some...

Assuming you're using clean, soft applicators/MFs/etc. I'd guess that you marred it while washing. IMO that's how such stuff usually happens.

I haven't used SSR1, but from what I've heard, it's very mild stuff. Don't expect it to do any correction on (factory) Audi clear.

I'd pick a spot where you can really see what you're dealing with clearly and try to fix things. Don't do a whole panel until you've found what will work by doing this test area. You will probably need to use something like SSR 2.5 and then a milder product. I'd try using 3M PI-III RC (05933) then PI-III MG (05937) but I'm not sure which SSRs are comparable. On Audis, sometimes even the PI-III RC won't do it unless you're using a rotary.

And work on the wash/dry technique ;)
