Help me decide on what Edge Pads I need.

I will be purchasing a rotary soon (Makita 9227CX3) and I'll need some pads to go along with it. I would like to try out Edge Pads due to the centering feature.

Right now I have a PC with a bunch of Meguiar's Cutting and Polishing pads and some LC finishing pads. When I have the rotary, I think I will continue to use the PC for light polishes (like VM and PwC).

So, I plan to do some wet sanding on my dad's truck that I am also working on repainting. I will need pads for that. I also will need pads for general swirl removal on customers cars.

What do you think I should get? The pads for reference... http://edgepads.com/e2kfoam.htm

I think ill need the Heavy Cut (black) pad and a Medium Cut (yellow) pad. Will that be enough? or would anyone reccomend that I get a wool pad of some sort as well OR should I get any of the less aggressive pads? I think my PC would be good for the less aggressive areas, but I would like some input.

I hope this makes sense and thanks for any responses!

I personally like wool pads as I find I get much more control.

However, they tend to leave all sorts of strands all over the

place that will require you wash the car over again. If you get

the black pad, you can forego a wool pad. The edge black will

do short order on sanding scratches, but it will haze a lot.

Upside, is that it will not leave behind any heavy swirling

that you sometimes might get with wool pads. I like using

this pad with HT Heavy cut, but I plan to pick up some

Mnzerna PG to see how it works on the paint.

Once you go past the black, it comes down to inches IMO.

Here's the edge equivalents:

edge yellow= Megs maroon

edge green = LC yellow

edge blue= LC white

edge white= LC gray

Not sure what the equivalent pad would be against the LC

orange, as I do not use it very often.

I think all the different type pads have their advantages. I like

the LC VC pads for the rotary, while I like the edge and Megs

flat-faced pads for the Mak d/a.
