Help. I messed up my windows. : (

Hey guys. I just finished washing my car, a gorgeous black Mazda CX7 which I just got 2 weeks ago. I´ve never washed my car myself since like, 8 years ago and this is just the second time I washed this one.



The first time I did it on a Saturday morning and got amazing results just by using Meguiars gold class shampoo and some quick detail spray, with a wash mitt and some chamois and microfibers.

This time I started at 5 pm and It got dark soon after so I could do such a good job, and then , when I got into the garage, under the fluorescent lights I noticed my windows were all @"$%d up!!! with water spots and trails, argh.... :wall



I think my mistake was that I didnt wash the car by parts this time, and I might have let the water dry on the windows.



The thing is that even after I used some window cleaning spray I found in the house they still look like $%it,so now I am concerned.

Does anybody know how I can fix it? Is it possible that I just f#/ed them up for good???

You really cant mess them up for good unless you penetrate real deep into the glass which you definitely didnt, no car soap is harsh enough to do that.



Clean them more, try some no streak, invisible glass, etc...



Absolute worst case scenario youll have to polish them with a glass polishing kit (about $30).
 
do the water spots go away after the glass is completely dry?

either way, get some glass polish from somwhere - id probably recommend autogeek.com after that put some sealant/wax on em with the rest of the car and they should be good to go.:) ive actually never used glass polish but i hear good things. lmk how it goes
 
Hard water will make some difficult spots pretty fast. If they are fresh, you can try some white vinegar (I haven't done this personally). It doesn't sound like you have any polishes to try, a light polish by hand should take those spots right off if they are fresh.
 
Ok. Thanks guys, I'll try the white vinegar first. since its 10pm and no place to get some polish around :P I hope there is no need to go and see a professional. :(
 
well.. I went downstairs. found a gallon of white sugarcane vinegar and then tried it on a small section of the windshield using some paper kitchen towels and microfiber. it worked!!! : D

I managed to make a small area drop-free, at least on this light. So I think tomorrow with some hard work and the vinegar I'll get it done. I think this will be good enough until I can get my hands on some good glass polish. Only thing is that in my haste I made a tiny scratch on the left side of the hood :( oh well. one thing at a time.

sounds to me like you should invest in some glass polish like Zaino applied with a PC. I know when I got my mustang it had sat on the lot for 8months under the care of the dealership "detailers". I had to polish all the hard water spots out with the Zaino
 
For a good OTC glass cleaner, I like Megs NXT. Also, if you have any kind of AIO product, try buffing that onto the glass. It does a great job of cleaning off spots and such and gives good duraiblity for water beading.
