Help - buying machine polisher in UK

Seriously - consider a Sonus DAS + PC kit from Autopia plus transformer, extension cable and plug from ScrewFix. Plenty of info about it on Megs UK forum.
 
only alternative is the Makita bo6040 for about £210, but the PC is the "king" of polishers, so I would go for that (I have one!)
 
Agreed, aside from the Makita which can be bought in the UK, you would need to order from the USA. This is a simple and easy process and worth every single penny
 
Can you let me know how that works out for you. I am a PC virgin (so to speak), and wanted to know what you think.

I ordered a PC from autopia a couple of weeks ago - worked ut just great!



I bought the Sounus DAS kit (PC & selection of sonus pads) the kit was $199, the shippping was $68, but with a discount coupon (not sure if it is still running) the total was $237 which worked out at £130 on my credit card. The Stuff from Screwfix (110v transformer, extenstion lead and UK spec plug) came to £48 delivered.



The stuff from Autopia arrived within 5 days!



All in - I am very impressed. There is no hassle getting it from the states, the delivery is great (and tracked the whole way from california to your doorstep by the USPS!!!)



very highly recomended. I have said it on the UK megs forum - if you have decided to get a machine polisher - don't waste time looking for a UK alternative (there isn't one!) and stop worrying about any potential "hassle" and just get it ordered - you won't regret it!

That's not true at all. The Makita a perfectly good alternative and has the advantage of not needing a transformer (though mine is 110v I will admit). The downside of the Makita is that because most people on here love the PC it's harder to get newbie advice on it. Upsides include a forced rotation mode and the soft start is quite nice too, though I hadn't noticed that until recently.



When Alex finishes my delivery, I will be running a side by side comparison on a certain golf :) that we played with, and I will then be able to tell you if I prefer my PC or my Makita, lol.

Yes... But its a bit fast for polishing - assuming you ever want to use sub 4000 rpm speed settings. Of course since many mostly use the top half of the PCs speed settings I guess you can get away with it.
