Hi,

I have a 2000 Honda Insight that I plan to do some restoration on both the body and interior.

Specifically, I'm wondering what to do with the steering wheel. My oily hands have done damage to it, and debating replacement or sewing a cover, or something else.

Welcome to AutopiaForums! Can you post a picture of your steering wheel on the forum? We might be able to prescribe a way for you to repair or restore it.

Welcome

If you have access to steam try that first. If not you might try the following

Get a damp rag and spray All Purpose Cleaner unto it. Gently wipe your wheel and see what happens

The reason I say gently is because if you rub to hard you will remove the dye. You do have to apply a little pressure though or you won't remove the dirt. There is a fine line for sure

Another option is a Magic Eraser/APC. You need to be REAL careful if you choose that route

Keep an additional damp rag on hand to wipe away residue

Welcome to AF! Where about in Tx are you from? I live in the Garland area. As odd stated, some pictures of the steering wheel would help us out a lot.
