"Yenz need to get with the program and have an Iron City down at the South Side and nat" - im sorry pittsburgh born and raised cant help it.

Seriously... its good and if you havent had one before, try it. The FF and Slaw and Sandwich is awesome. Also if you guys havent gone down to vinnies on Ardmore and got one of his pie's...your missing out. They are to die for......I love Pittsburgh. After you have these, I think you are offically one of us!

I lived on Dutch Lane in Pleasant Hills until '87, when I moved out to the Poconos. Graduated TJ in '72.

My brother lives in North Versailles, down the hill from Drew Menas' off Rt 30.

Had many an IC light---going down to Southside Saturday for "Shamrockin in the Southside" (second annual for us!)--Don't eat meat so Primanti Bros is kinda out of the question for me!!--We go down to Vinnies on Ardmore quite often!!!

It's funny that I ended up in Pgh b/c my mom grew up in glenshaw, and my grandparents lived there for over 50 years, then moved to Passavant in Zelie. So I grew up coming here to visit mom's family. My cousin lives in Butler still. So, I have been raised wearing black and gold all my life! Just wierd how I ended up marrying someone from here and starting the family all over again in pgh (moved from richmond VA to Los Angeles to Pittsburgh....)

We are neighbors! I live off of Greensburg Pike behind Bob's Lounge..........do you know Bob's? We call it Roberto's drink Emporium! HeeHee

My husband has been with Wilkins #1 VFD for 16 years.

He grew up here, I've only been here for a little over 2 years so I really don't know many people round here except his family.

Thanks again for the welcome!!!

Boy, now you are bringing back memories....

I graduated from Churchill High School (what you know now as Woodland Hills). I lived on Roland Road for a while with my ex, she was born and raised there. I live in the Murrysville area now, but was born & raised in Eastmont (across 22 from the Sears in Penn Center). A good friend of mine had an apartment on Maple in Turtle Creek for years - I did some "heavy" partying down there, & at the Show bar in East Pittsburgh - but that was *a lot* of years ago!

Your hub is into the VFD, huh? Tell me - do you know Rich Simpson? Is he still around?

Oh - & welcome! I'm pretty new here too, & do a lot more reading than I do posting. There is a bunch of info here!

I don't know about Rich Simpson, Doug is in #1 Wilkins. We live a block away from #3. Show Bar, is that on Electric Ave/Tri-Boro???

Hubby went to Woodland Hills HS for 3 years but got transferred when they re-organized school districts in 85 or 86. Ever been to Station Brake in Wilmerding? Awesome food!

Pittsburgh Rocks!!!

There are so many good places to eat in Pittsburgh. There’s this one place in Lawrenceville that has the best fish sandwiches......ironically I also find in Pittsburgh, the dirtier the place, the better the food

Yes! The "O" is the greatest. And the Plaza on the Pike is good and so is bobs (but they are not nearly as dirty as the "o")....theres Quaker Steak and Lube....there not dirty but basically a pittsburgh Original.

Dont be afraid....its all good here....your husband should know since hes been here longer....we are just a dirty city and we get used to it

Well, it's really outside of the city I guess - but the best place for barbeque & ribs is CLEM'S on Route 22 just west of Blairsville. :bigups It's on the left as you are heading east.

It's one of our favorite places to go in the summer - we usually jump on our bikes & head out on Sunday afternoons. People that don't even like barbequed foods like Clems! :bow

My first experiance there was revealing. My wife & I rode out with 2 good friends of ours. After pulling into the lot & jumping off his Valkyrie, he proceded to open his hardbag & out came a roll of paper towels & a spray bottle of water...

If you haven't yet, you need to get out there! My personal favorite is the pulled pork sandwich on a homemade hoagie bun with provolone cheese & fried onions. Add a side of garlic mashed potatoes & I'm good to go! :bounce
