I've been lurking for a long time. Never really actually got my hands dirty detailing anything and about 5 years ago my wife suprised me with the "Ultimate Detailing Machine" for our anniversary. Well 2 kids later I was cleaning out the garage and guess what I found.

Just purchased a new black Toyota Tundra and that is probably the dumbest thing a guy with OCD could do. Everytime I walk by it I see swirls, light scratches, and other various paint imperfections. I wont ask any questions here I will use the search button first. Just very scared to put that DA to my new truck. Nice to meet all yall and hope to learn a lot of great stuff. Any fellow Oklahomans that would like to help a newb out please send me a message and would really appreciate a little assistance on getting started. Beer on me. :)

You will do well with your buffer. Very controllable and safe to use. There are a lot of process threads to follow. But mostly, a little practice on your mother in laws car will give you confidence to do yours. You can do it! :)

Welcome BigD! Not to far from you, good luck with the Tundra! Soft paint, should be easy to correct! I would look into Opti-Coat, for that paint. All the Tundra's I've done are easy to correct but mar very easy!

Yeah ive noticed the paint is very soft. The dealer had some one come in and detail my truck to remove clear coat scratches and now i see the buffer marks left real good when the sun shines on it. I wrote an email to them about it, amongst other things and got a response real quick about how they will take care of it for me and make it look good. I've been searching on here like crazy and can't seem to find good posts about using that ultimate DA i have and what is exactly the best swirl removers to use. I need a step by step tuturial. HAHA Thankfully my dad is cool enough to let me practice on his truck so now i need a list of goodies to buy. Any ideas fellas? i need pads, micofibers, detergent to wash them, swirl mark removers, polish, wax, and i guess OptiCoat. Once OC is on will it ever come off? also, is my DA still a decent one?

I can say the Meg's microfiber DA correction kit will get you started. From there the sky is the limit. Black is a part time job to keep perfected. There are plenty of Pros and others to guide you.

Welcome to the "rabbit hole of detail

Perfection".

Welcome to Autopia! Dont worry! You'll do very well with your buffer and there's plenty of people here to help with questions.
