I have ordered products for detailing my cars and I've read many thread concerning detailing and I've learned a lot of information that I have put to practical use. For instance, I have an 2009 Mercedes Benz that had a set of AMG painted wheels. I noticed the wheels on the passenger side did not look as new as the wheels on the driver's side. I surmised that the PS wheel may have been, at one time, the wheels on the front and brake dust was allowed to accumulate until they dulled the finish. Anyway, I started to clean the dull wheels to see if I could bring them back to new. I managed to make some improvement in the appearance and I've used Meguiar's Wheel Cleaner, Mother's foaming cleaner and diluted ZEP Purple Industrial cleaner, but I still wasn't pleased. I used a Power Cone and compounded, polished and then cleaner waxed the wheels and probably got them to look about 90% the way they should look. Then . . .
I read about Griot's HD wheel cleaner on this forum and I found some at the local auto parts store and decided to try it. I followed the instructions, wet the wheel, let it sit for a few minutes, agitate and rinse. After all the cleaning and polishing I've done, I was surprised to see the Griots turn red and removed deeply imbedded brake dust. I was amazed at how clean the wheel became. I will now say that the wheels look 97% new. I'll put a coat of wax on them and they should shine.
Thanks Autopia.
